When I was a young lad Pat Jennings,Martin Peters and some other Spurs playing catholic( Kinnear?) visited my sisters school just to sign autographs, their children were there, they seemed to have time for everybody.
I wouldn't say Ade put in shift today in any case but I would think they could try and show some respect to the fans.

Never seen the point of asking for someone to scribble on a piece of paper

A shake of the hand or photo with them would be more memorable

I kind of feel sorry for the kids but any grown person hanging around after a game waiting for someones autograph needs to grow up.

Well he was quite a bit upset also ruined his christmas presents really aswell!

As he had black spurs top with adebayor on the back! and a few spurs posters of adebayor!. Which now when he gets home he wants to take the posters down and he doesnt really like his black spurs top now prefers his white one with van der vaart on it.

He asked me in the car on way back just now why did adebayor not want to talk to me did i not support spurs well enough? should i support swansea instead!
At 8 years old hes young and doesnt understand that footballers can be pricks

thats what pissed me off the most lol!

Perhaps try writing to the club - they are very PR conscious and may send him something from Ade to try and make amends.

Might be a culture thing, have you ever been to Africa?
A regular scam is to say will you sign here and sponsor my kids team, old habits etc.

So what? They were probably having a bad day. Do you never have a gob on when going to work? They're just normal people at the end of the day, they don't ask to be anyone's hero's. Sure the money helps but still doesn't stop them having a shitty day. I've met both previously and both were polite and generous with their time.

Like when Dennis Pennis got O J Simpson to sign a folded piece of paper with "I did it" written on the top half

90% of the autographs would probably be on e-bay within the hour. They might aswell sell them themselves.

Don't get too attached to the players would be my advice, we'll still be here supporting the team when they are all long gone.

They are just people not idols or heroes and we shouldn't put them on that level.

Just to clear it up i was not waiting for them.
I was trying to convert my 8 year old nefue to a spurs fan because he had recently gone through that period where kids in school have a go for supporting spurs and most other kids in his class supported "Barcelona,Man City,Liverpool,United,Chelsea".
Luckily it looks as if i have managed to convert him  just need to take him to a game in WHL now. Where hopefully he will manage to get adebayors signature!

Hi agrdavidsfan,

Sorry to hear about your troubles with a couple of the players. Trust you found somewhere good to eat and that you eventually made your way home.

Now can you please get over to the ITK thread and share what the rest of the players said?:grin:

I agree with this, fans get way too attached to players imo. They just come and go anyway to whoever will pay them the most. Generally they don't love the club like the fans do.

Sounds like Ade was out of order not to sign a few autographs but you will always get some players that do stop and some that don't.

He's only on loan anyway, bit odd to get his name on the back of the shirt isn't it?? Or do a lot of people do that? He's probably got as much chance of lining up for City/Chelsea/Arsenal next season as us.
