But might they be doing the same as us, getting a new contract signed to maximise sale value?

Certainly not a poor point, but I think there's a very crucial difference between Rabiot and us doing that with the likes of Verts, Lloris, and Eriksen - and that being that our group have all proven themselves as top class players desired by bigger and better clubs, while Rabiot as of this moment is still a promising youth.

Can't remember who, but I'm
Pretty sure we've announced a new contract for someone a few days before flogging them - sort of Carlo in reverse.

Tall strong player with a good pass on him and good ball control when I've watched him. He could become a decent playmaker.

Is he quick though? We've plenty of slow lugs for our midfield, and we lack athleticism and drive more than playmaking ability.

Was it a young kid though? And I guess with the FFP rules, they would want to squeak out every coin they could get.

I've never taken notice, so I would guess no. I don't remember him being particularly fast or slow.

Well, if his passing range is good and incisive enough then I suppose it isn't a breaker, but I do think we could massively do with more mobility in midfield. Very tired of watching the Europa teams in particular absolutely run circles around our midfielders.

Linked again in L'Equipe apparently and it continues to be rumored as a loan.

Maybe it's got an option to buy on the end of it, but it does seem strange any other way. I get the point with Bentaleb going to the ACN and the only other midfield options that Pochettino really appears to like in the holding 2 being Mason and Stambouli. But, if there's any way to sell players like Dembele, Capoue and even if it's just a loan for Paulinho at this point, we should be doing everything in our power to sign him permanently or at least get that built into the loan agreement with a buy option.

He's exceptionally talented, I feel as though he will transition to the EPL but I also think it's going to take him more time than what half a season can offer.

I saw one of the THFC accounts tweeting it. I went to L'Equipe - all I could find was reports back from dec 16.

He would be a great Jan signing. I hope it happens.

As it's said we're limited with the wage budget, I'm wondering (if true) if it has something to do with not only freeing up funds for additions elsewhere of higher priority to Poch, but also if Levy could manage to convince PSG to pay a significant amount, if not all, of Rabiot's wages. If he's not receiving much playing time as is, wouldn't it be rather advantageous for them to allow him to not only receive more playing time, but in the Premier League?

So given the fact Trix said the club isn't particularly confident about moving the ones he wants out on this January, wouldn't a loan for that time make sense, especially given how little Poch plays these other midfield options? Essentially, I think we could promise PSG that Rabiot would receive favorable playing time (the fact we're still in all four competitions certainly would help this case) in a top league, and we may be able to do this for negligible financial outlay upon convincing PSG of this favor to them. Given our own financial constraints and the unlikelihood of moving on our current options, I think this deal would be in the interest of all parties involved and very plausible given PSG's financial means along with Levy's negotiation suave.

Rabiot is a far better option than Delph IMO. In today's market ,he will be 12 to 15m having signed a new deal with PSG. But if we can get a loan+ buy option, then it makes more sense - evaluate him for 6 months & if he is good, push for his signing.

Rabiot is very similar to Mason. Breaks up play & moves the ball forward at the earliest.

We could get sell Capoue,Paulinho & Dembele
Bentaleb - Mason- Rabiot - Stambouli would be great quartet. We could add Delph if he comes on a free transfer. Our midfield would be high energetic bunch scavenging for the ball.

Looks like a matic style player. Really need a player like this Infront of our back 4, has some Fellaini tendencies about him to

Definitely seems like an ideal player to fit Poch's system. I guess it depends how easily we can shift Dembele, Capoue and Paulinho before we can bring him in.

I was just thinking we needed another midfielder. We don't have enough not getting a game.
