My faith in Charlie Lloyd Thomas has been shattered. It's like my whole world has been turned upside down.

Is he? I recall him playing in the middle at Bordeaux so have Barcelona moved him out wide?
Hes always played across the front three, mainly right wing. Hes played 4 games at attacking mid in his senior career and never in centre mid

They must have been the games I saw him in then, I've not seen him hugging the white lines but then I've not seen play at Barcelona.

"Barcelona will make an official offer to Rabiot in January, 10m euros salary + 10M euros bonus on signing. This offer will only hold if a summer move is made and the player comes in for free - Talks to be held between #Barcelona and #Henrique for a move in January as the player is not even allowed in the locker room on match days.
Spurs can offer no more than a salary of €7m per year. Rabiot would accept the offer if there is a turnaround with Barcelona. Though, Serge Aurier advised Rabiot to extend his contract with Paris."

So down to us vs Barca, but no idea why the Barca deal would fall apart. They also reported we would offer the same "sign on fee" although we wouldn't be getting him on a free.

Never rated Aurier. Kyle Walker-Peters is the only right back I acknowledge existing.

Maybe aurier just doesn't like him?
I think they are good friends. One of the PSG supporters on the reddit thread this story was on said they used to smoke shisha together.
The aurier part in the Paris United story is probably nonsense.

I refuse to believe this man does anything that isn’t sensible

Deschamps inherited a France squad torn apart by troubles during WC10. Some of the biggest talent (Ribéry, Evra, Anelka, Gallas, Henry) had run riot. The stories are sickening. Players from poor backgrounds branding the more middle class players homosexual (principally Gourcuff) and refusing to play if he was the key creative player (the « meneur de jeu »). They would refuse to run if he passed to them and in training would smack the ball at him and physically aggress hîm. Toulalan, Diarra and Lloris defended him against this vicious clique. Retribution was widespread - they were mocked for, among other things, reading. So many bad stories from this time that none of the above mentioned players should have any moral standing in our eyes.

The coach was powerless.

Deschamps, among other things, met with Lloris, and realised that none of these players should play for France again. Respect, sacrifice for the team and decency are prerequisites to be selected and just as important as talent.

The french team have seen steady improvements in results since and even the big stars (notably Mbappe, Griezmann and Pogba) showed great humility throughout the World Cup.

If Deschamps won’t pick you and you have talent - the reason is clear.

The reason Rabiot isn’t a WC winner isn’t because of his attitude or personality (that’s true of others such as Benzema). The reason is France has an abundance of talent at 8 and he was behind Pogba and Tolisso.

But since then he displayed an attitude that means he will probably never play for France under Deschamps and (given the talent coming through) may never play for France again. That won’t matter at Barcelona who will tolerate primadonnas. It matters in a team where character matters.

I like to think that includes Spurs.

If people om Twitter are to be believed, apparently that Aurier is taken way out of context, if it even exists at all. If he said anything, apparently it was that he advised him to stay at PSG over a move to Barca.

I’m genuinely shocked at this behaviour - but I have a feeling it’s this sort of clique mentality which held back England too.

Don’t know beyond Le Saux revealing he used to get called homosexual disparagingly because he read broadsheet newspapers.

It has been admitted by Ferdinand and Lampard that the England camp tended to be divided by club affiliations, something Southgate has been praised for eliminating

We heard all about how Serge was going to be a horrible influence as well and he's been seemingly a fantastic member of the locker room. I really have no worries about Rabiots attitude in the environment Pochettino has created. Especially at what his price tag will be.

So say he comes in and is a total ass... he sits on the bench, Winks starts every game and we sell Rabiot for a profit.. boo hoo.

It sounds like De Jong and Barca are close according to the papers today. As someone who hasn't seen De Jong, do he and Rabiot play the same position? Would Barca take both?

To me they play the same role as the box to box player.
