I was reading on BBC the other day that they were well behind schedule, its supposed to be in January. Was just curious about the stadiums in general and tried to find some images. Nothing on the FIFA website about the tournament, there is a tournament website but no photo's. I did come across some photo's but they were from 2007 and had the stadiums being from 35-60k seater stadiums. I found something on wikipedia, but that had no photo's, put locations into google maps, nothing there. Is this really going to happen at all? Does anyone have or know of any links to stadium photo's or images.

There is some of building sites on BBC but nothing more.

Wont be on the FIFA site as FIFA arn't running it

More on it, on the CAF site

Rumours that Angola is not ready to host the 2010 Orange Cup of Nations (CAN) are "absolutely rubbish", a senior African Football Confederation official said Monday after a five-day inspection of new stadiums.
"I think it's going extremely well," Suketu Patel, a CAF executive committee member, told AFP.

"There are a few things that need to be resolved and we brought that to the
attention of the government and we are quite confident it will be a very good CAN in the end," he said.

The CAF delegation has spent five days inspecting Angola's four new stadiums in the host cities Luanda, Lubango, Benguela and Cabinda as well as looking at hospitals, hotels and other facilities.

Patel said rumours about Angola's level of preparedness -- which included speculation that World Cup 2010 host South Africa may step in -- were "absolutely rubbish".

He was speaking at the conclusion of a meeting between the head of the CAF delegation Mohamed Raouroua, Angolan Sports Minister Goncalves Muandumba, and Justinho Fernandes, the president of Angola's organising committee (COCAN).

The CAF official, who is also president of the regional body Cosafa, said there had been discussions about making it easier for fans and journalists to get entry visas. The Angolan Government was working on this, he said.

The official group draw is due to take place on November 20 in Luanda. Angola, which only ended its 27-year civil war in 2002, has spent over one billion dollars preparing its country for the football tournament, building new roads and refitting airports as well as the stadiums.

So with regards to players going, we may lose BAE & Bassong to Cameroon and i think that's about it.

Arsenal will lose Song & Eboue

Liverpool - can't think of anyone

Man U - can't think of anyone, though they may lose Nani to the Jackson Tribute Tour.

Chelsea will be without Essien, Drogba, Mikel, Kalou, Babayaro, Weah and Tessa Sanderson.

Man City will lose Adebayor and Toure

Villa will lose maybe Beye? Can't remember where he's from and instead of typing this, i could just google it, but can't be bothered, which is weird really as it would probably be much quicker that typing what i'm currently typing.

Everton i think will lose Yakubu, as well as Fellaini's hair.

Chelsea have come out the worst there, surely.

why is this thing the same year as a world cup???? why is it not in the summer anyway???

I if was a chairman and was thinking about signing a african player, i would put it in his contract that he can play for his country at anytime but not in this african nations cup, the club pays the wages and allows these guys to earn a much better living than if they were still in africa.

fifa needs to sort this out

Angola has a dry and cool season from June to late September..[FONT=Verdana,helvetica,arial]and a rainy, hot season from October to the end of May. The average temperature is 20C (68F); average maximum temperatures during the hot season do not exceed 26C (79F)...so won`t be too bad there.

Yeah, but it would be in other parts of the continent and they can't keep shifting the damn thing.

Massive inconvenience all round, really. Should just ban all sport on the entire continent and shoot anyone who argues. That lovely Mugabe chap has the right idea.

I wonder how the players feel about it being in January. THe top ones are missing out on a vital part of their clubs seasons, and the decent ones have every potential transfer put into jeopardy because clubs don't want to lose players for a month every other season.

i understand that its held in jan because its the most suitable time for the majority of the continent what i cant understand is why it needs to be held every 2 years? same issue with the gold cup as well.
it just seems like the continental federations are more interested in making their money than their players.
Im not disregarding the historical importance of these competitions but given most of the top players from south america and africa play in europe surely they should be sympathetic to both their players and the clubs they play for.

Having said that players who complain about being tired are nancies so fuck them

Thats the reason for the Gold Cup every two years. Also it being in the US every time also points to the $$$ reason.
