1. Shaw has already reportedly turned down Chelsea, even though he is a Chelsea supporter.
2. Rose was as good as Shaw last season (both were YPOTY at their respective teams). The kid has potential but it would be daft to have him as our only left back option. And don't say Vertonghen, because Kaboul may not be 100% fit by the start of the season and that puts us one injury away from Caulker-Veljkovic as our starting back line.
3. We'd have to pay the English premium, Southampton want on the order of £15m for a kid with one year top-flight experience.

Cover for Benny, Rose for sale

Why would he leave Sociedad, who are in the CL, and for whom he is first choice, to come here and be cover for Benny? If we sign a LB it will be to come directly into the first team imo.

I think danny rose should get his chance now...hes shown he can handle the PL & he was in a much weaker team, so hes only going to get better with stronger players around him. I dont mind if we sell BAE or keep him as second choice but avb must set out to use rose in a starting roll this season

If nothing else, he should get a substantial opportunity in preseason to prove if he's up to snuff.

It actually came up during the Illaramendi to Real Madrid talk but since de la Bella is La Real player I thought it might be useful.
Apparently there is some sort of a pact in Sociedad's dressing room that no player from the first XI will force his way out of the club. That means Illara, Griezmann, Pardo, both Martinez's and de la Bella will stay and beat the hell out of Arsenal in the fourth qualifying round of champions league.

he sociedad team quite locally sourced with players. I believe a large percentage were either born in the region or brought in at a very young age and so have played together for a while.
