Barça and Tottenham are set to meet soon to discuss the Frenchman’s signing. It has been claimed that the La Liga champions will look to seek around €10-12 million for his departure.

But, according to a fresh report from SPORT, Tottenham would be willing to offer only around €5 million to sign Lenglet.

Nothing wrong with trying to low ball a club absolutely desperate to get rid of a player - everyone has/is doing the same to us for the players they know we want rid of.

As for the player, i thought he had a fair enough season given the overall shit show our defence became, neither great nor desperate, some good traits, some worrying traits. The fact he has had a year with the group and in the PL makes me think that he'd be a decent buy (especially for the low ball price !) if we then sold the likes of Sanchez and Tanganga, maybe Dier as well. We can't just get rid of all our defense bar Romero in one go, so yeah, lowball them and see what happens. I can't see many more attractive options than us opening up to the player and it needs him to want to leave Barca for them to be able to free up his wages.

Problem with Lenglet is, it seems like he's best suited to a back three. I'm not saying we'll definitely not use a back three, but it doesn't seem likely. In the back four in Barcelona, with the high backline, he got butchered over and over. I'm afraid of watching that in an all-attack Ange system.

Sadly I think he is too slow to fit with our new managers high press, I like him as a player.

There'd be worse bench warmers if that becomes his role!? Not my first choice first choice LCB mind.

Agree! If it's Dier or Lenglet, I'd prefer Lenglet. Both will get cooked in a high line, but at least he can pick a pass!

The question shouldn't be the price, it should be whether he's good enough either as a starter or backup.

If he's not the right quality or type of CB we need, then it doesn't matter how cheap he is, it's not worth spending the money or taking up a squad space.

Our defence was fucking diabolical last year so I'm skeptical he's what we need. Happy to be proven wrong.

That Barca back line was sheer lunacy. If Puyol was still playing he'd have been sent off every game.
