Dinpomp -thanks for your updates, which are all the better for your informed interpretation and contextualisation.

There's ITK.

And then there's Dinpomp. ;)

Dinpomp - what's the deal with the father and bringing the younger brothers to Spurs?

Is Mr Halilovic like Bojan's father, a football fanatic who became a scout at Barca when his son was in the Academy?

Or is he simply trying to do the best by his family and ensure his son gets the best chance to fulfil his potential?

Any thoughts?

Alen's father, Sejad Halilovic, is currently a coach within Dinamo's academy. He's a former footballer who was a Bosnia-Herzegovina international (also has a cap for Croatia).

He seems to let Alen decide on most things, like choosing which NT to play for, for example. At least that's what he says publicly. He knows what it was like to play professionally, and talks a good game about keeping his son humble. However, his intentions weren't always so clear-cut.

For example, a couple of years ago Sejad took Alen to Madrid for a trial with Real. The problem was he didn't let Dinamo know about it. All while being an employee of the club. He went on at least a couple of similar trials (one reportedly with Atletico Madrid). Reports at that time all indicated that Halilovic was off. That Dinamo were losing their "gem." That's when Dinamo/Mamic got serious and took matters into their own hands. Through the Croatian FA they threatened him with a suspension (from playing with another club until a certain age), and relieved his father of his position within the academy. To make a long story short, they eventually met, settled things, signed a new deal and Sejad got his coaching position back. And they all lived happily ever after.

I assume, like with most parents, he just wants what's best for his son. The fact that he's employed by Dinamo makes it a little more complicated.

As for his brothers, I'm sure he wants the family to stay together. They are both footballers. One just participated (and won) the Manchester United Premier Cup (U15) and the other is young duckling (born in 2005). There's no harm in them continuing at Dinamo, and I think it's strictly a "move as a family" type of deal. At least ideally.

Dinpomp - many thanks.

Based on that information, if Sejad Halilovic decides to bring his family over to Spurs, I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a coaching job in our Academy. He may have a lot of fresh ideas to offer, and it sounds like he's done a pretty good job developing the talent of his own boys.

Comes across as mainly speculation, but their conclusion is that Halilovic is going to Tottenham.

Weirdly/poorly written article at times. Basics are that the family isn't happy with how Dinamo's manager, Jurcic, has been treating Alen. They see him stagnating there. Whispers around Zagreb say they have decided to accept Tottenham's offer.

They write that Alen's father was in Manchester to watch Dino (Alen's brother) play in the Nike Premier Cup. He prolonged his stay in England and they speculate it's to clarify Tottenham's offer.

The "weird" part is that go to mention rumours of a pre-contract with some Spanish club and also an offer from Galatasaray.

But main conclusion is that he's most likely off to Spurs.

A LOT of speculation in there. Take it for what it's worth.

Then it's settled. He's coming to us! And some club in Spain. And maybe Galatasaray too if they make a good offer. He's gonna get tons of games.

As I don't know much about him would he go into the first team now or spend a few years getting experience and improving?

If it's the latter what are the chances of signing him and then immediately loaning him out (maybe even back to Dinamo as they may get into the Champions League and that would be some good experience)

Tottenham are on the verge of signing Dinamo Zagreb wonderkid Alen Halilovic, according to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.
Spurs will reportedly pay Dinamo €15m (£12.9m) for the 17-year-old playmaker, who is one of the most highly-rated prospects in Europe.

Mamic(Dinamos owner) said if we sign him he will remain at Dinamo until the end of the Croatian season - which is next summer,.

If he comes to us he will be tapped up by Madrid in 3-4 years

Get used to it - this is the way we will need to survive until we are powerful enough to turn it all down. That'll be 5-10 years hopefully. Until then we need to unearth more gems - at a quicker rate then selling them I hope!

If he is loan back are we still short of midfielders after offloading Parker and Livermore?

Capoue is coming remember.

Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Capoue, Holtby and Carroll for the central mid positions is plenty.

Sky Italy recently (within past few days) reported how Napoli and Fiorentina initiated contacts for Rebic. They went on to note that there is long-standing interest from both Germany and England. The figure that keeps getting mentioned is 6m euros.
