I know he'll be a back up striker but for my 2 pennes worth you dont get top 4 by buying other top 4 cast offs.
I've never been impressed with him.
I'd rather see a proven pl striker come in from lower half of the table.

He's got everything, except the ability to put the ball in the back of the net. I'd take him, but Spain would have won the Euro's with a decent striker leading the line.

Had a refresh on Morata last night. He's 30 in October, and his highest scoring league seasons (excluding Castilla) is 15, 12, 11.

It's frankly incredible work by his agents to think that he's played for Real (twice), Juve (twice), Chelsea, and Atletico - and considering he's never played for a crap team, his stats are a bit... meh.

If he was available for modest money, then maybe. Otherwise, he's just a Spanish Chris Wood (although I think that's unfair on Wood, because he's been playing for Burnley, not CL teams in weaker leagues).

Juventus can get Vlahovic over us, for the same money, because they are an international super club, one of the most legendary clubs in world football, we are not. A vast majority of players, when offered similar deals from us and Juventus, would go to Juventus. What do you want? To systematically overpay players and agents to favor us? No thanks, that's how you end up with a group of players with the wrong motivations. Or are you just looking for us to make massive bids for established superstars who wouldn't want to come anyway? I don't get it, again, what do you want? It's not like we missed out on Adama or Diaz because we weren't willing to spend money, they simply preferred clubs with greater stature and a better track record of winning.

There has been a change. We used to go after a single target for ages, miss out on that target and then don't sign anyone. At least now it seems like we are working with multiple options. What I personally want our strategy to be is to get marginal gains everywhere we can. Be ruthless and get rid of players when we can get someone marginally better and not waste years trying to revive the likes of Dele or get something out of failures like Ndombele and Lo Celso. That's why I want us to sign Morata if we can get him, he is way better than playing one of our other attackers as a CF when Kane is rested. That's why I want us to sign Kulusevski, because he is a player with massive potential and would improve our attacking options. Is Kulusevski prime Bale? Is Morata going to rival Kane? No, but they will make the squad better, or at least potentially make the squad better.

So number one, we do not know the details here of course, but if reports were true that we were some millions apart on these deals, we could offer that early in January if those were player we REALY want. We haggle over them for many weeks, then they get offers from other "top" clubs and we fall of. Assume if we met the clubs value early January and players said, nah ill wait until end of January to see what i want to do, then ofcourse club could say F of on to the next, not what it looked like from the outside at least.

Number two. There have been no change, do you think spurs have had 1 target before? Of course they have had a "list" when missing out on main targets. Why do you think we ended up with players like Sigurdson, Saha, Jansen, Njie Nkoudu, Chiricesh, Stambouli? i could name more, but all of those were chances the club hoped would come good, and of course the club needs signings like that, but if you want to compete on the top, you just have to bite the bullet sometimes and pay 5-10 mil over what you want to get the top player inn fast along with the "maybes". FP have said this himself when at Juve.

Number three. What i have said all along so we agree then? Young player, not been doing anything at Juve that suggest he would light the prem , but we are hoping. Not looking any better than Bergw or Lucas, i am not saying Diaz would solve anything, but the quality difference is notable.

I do think Spurs would get these top players IF they changed their way of doing business, payed up a bit faster to take that chance more often on that next caliber of player, this is of course more risky hence wy we seem to be at a status quo. Until we do Change i still feel we will be around the top 6,7,8 mark in the prem.

We are only fans and do not have any ITK so we can only go by what we see in the media, but early noise when Conte came in was that things were about to change, and if you read AG latest article it basically highlights what i am saying. it all looks the same.
Lets hope Summer will really be the turning point for Spurs, as a Spurs fan for over 35 years my hopes are slim, but maybe, just maybe we can win the lottery :)

As far as I'm aware it's a loan until the summer. I don't believe we're buying him? Or have I missed something.

It's a bit of a weird one, because
- Chelsea bought him
- Loaned him to Atleti for a season, with obligation to buy
- Atleti loaned him to Juve as soon as they were forced to buy
- Juve paid €10m to loan him for a year, with a €45m option
- Instead of buying him, then loaned him again for a further €10m this year, with the option reducing to €35m

So, in order to get him from Juve, I guess either:
- They have to surrender half a seasons worth of loan fee, and Atleti re-loan him to use
- Or they have to activate his option, and then loan him to us
- Or we have to depart with some money somewhere

But I can't see where all parties would be happy with a deal

He's a phenomenal striker, his only weakness is actually scoring.
I know what you mean, but it's a bit like saying "bloke's an incredible porn star, except he can't get it up".

I still think he'd be a really solid backup and he's an excellent footballer, but yeah he's so frustrating in front of goal and would miss so many sitter.

Yeah. I genuinely was half serious / half joking there. He does pretty much everything you'd want a striker to do. Movement, hold up, link up, intelligent positioning, works reasonably hard...just so poor in front of goal with his feet. And at 29 it's hard to be enthused with the link.

With that being said...we are still absolutely desperate for a Kane backup.

Thankfully we don't create many chances, so he wouldn't have the opportunity to miss them.

He actually gives us something we lack at times.

A foil for Kane.

Sometimes it's easy for defenders cause they force Kane back or they can stay tight with him inside the penalty area. Morata and Kane could keep defenders guessing as they can both drop in between the lines or received the ball into feet inside the penalty area.

Probably complete horse shit then and there’s nothing in this link at all. No chance that all gets unpicked a day and a half before the window shuts. Although that does sound like the kind of mess we like to insert ourselves into!

Not sure why we don’t just go for Haaland. Think he’d be a good backup to Kane.
Because he'd play 9 games for us in 2 years and be shipped out on loan to Lyon who agree to cover only one-third of his astronomical wages.

Some of the comments in here are amusing. Us fans slate the club for not having a Kane backup, and we’re then linked with a guy who has scored goals in all the top leagues, hardly ever spent a season not playing champions league football, often starts and scores for a very high quality national team - but he’s too shite for our bench. Haha, we’re hilarious sometimes ?
