- Extract from his autobiography....

'The idea has always stuck with Baldini, however. Every time I see him, he comes over, smiles and launches the same story. "I've never managed to bring you to a club where I've been working. Sooner or later though..."

He tried to take me to Roma before I signed for Juventus. I just wasn't sure of the situation and the circumstances, even though I trusted him. He's great at his job; he's got style.'

- It was widely reported that we made an offer to Pirlo at the beginning of the Summer, but he chose to renew his Juventus contract and said this...

"I'll sign it (the Juventus deal)," the 35 year old said according to Tuttosport "I could have gone to Tottenham, but I chose to stay because I want to continue to win. And not only the Scudetto.

"I'm happy to have renewed with them. I want to continue. What was said about me and Prandelli and Tottenham were nothing more than rumours. I'm very happy at Juventus. This is my club and we have aims beyond just the league.

"Past interest from Tottenham Hotspur? I don't know if Italian football is better than English football, but it was my choice to continue with Juventus, which is a place where I'm comfortable and where I can win."

- He also said this back in May...

"I would have liked to have given it [playing abroad] a try and I've had plenty of opportunities in the past but each time I decided to stay in Italy. But let's see in the future -- why not?"

Not happening.
The price and/or quality of wine in the UK, is with respect, not on par with ale & cider.

you get the same italian wine here and I'm sure he'd prefer to pay more thinking it's better quality

but since then his management situation has changed for the worst. I'm sure he won't be staying at Juventus now.

I agree, especially as that new manager is Allegri. Was just pointing out that we made an offer for him earlier in the Summer, Baldini bloody loves him and that he still isn't against the idea of playing abroad.

Stick a work-horse alongside him, and he'll still dictate games IMO, even at the age of 35 and in the PL.

Was reconsidering this earlier and I'm pretty sure the commercial windfall we'd get from signing him would cover his transfer fees. I wouldn't mind a Spurs shirt with 'Pirlo' on the back. Then there's sponsorship and increased exposure.

Even if it is for only a year, it gives us a chance to solidify the defence, stabilise the team, and push us into 4th.

Spurs' total merchandising generates 10M a year. Please do argue for a player you like, but the "sale of kits"-argument only works for teams like Barcelona, not for Spurs.

The biggest point for me is that it will be travesty for us to not even try for him if there is a shred of chance. Base on above, it appears there is a shred of chance and I believe it is certain for everyone that he will add a dimension to our team that we sorely need. Edgar Davids came before so why not Pirlo?!

How about the increased exposure we'd get as a club? People would follow us just because Pirlo played here. Easily worth a 5m one off transfer fee?

I feel you underrate Pirlo's commercial appeal. Little kids in India who have never heard of Spurs would buy a Spurs top if it had Pirlo on the back.

I'll admit, I do have very limited knowledge about Indian kids' preferences as far as footballers goes.
I'm simply maintaining that one sole player cannot influence our sale of shirts, it's a very limited part of Spurs' revenues.
I'm not against signing Pirlo, though. However, as I indirectly stated earlier, if it actually came down to it, he would miss his families vineyards too much IMO.

Pirlo, in a Spurs shirt. I don't even.. i can't.

Would be too amazing. Just having him in the Lineup would be incredible.

Make it happen Baldini. For all those who criticize you, shove this right up their rectum.

One of my favourite players of all time. If he signed I would hunt down Baldini and give him a big slobber... with tongue.

Personally I would love Pirlo in a Spurs shirt- it just seems to fit doesn't it. But my best mate is Italian and a Liverpool fan who also supports Juve. Follows the Italian national team big time and adores the bearded wonder. He has said for the past few years that he doesn't believe Pirlo would be a success over here though.

He pointed to the WC games, against England we gave him space and he had a blinder and apparently this much more similar to Italian football, whereas against Costa Rica for example they pressed and limited his influence, which is more similar to may teams in the Prem.
