Played well recently and I hope he goes on and improves with his game time. Some people find it too easy to consistently knock him, even when he plays well.

You have to zone out,’ said Townsend. ‘Pick your side, don’t change your mind, focus on what side you want to put it, don’t look at the keeper - just solely on the ball.’

This says a great deal about Townsend's analytical attitude to aspects of his game. If he could apply that to his crossing, as he is gradually applying it to his decisions about when [not] to shoot, then he could continue to develop.

I'm not sure wether he will ever have the game-vision of players like Kane or Lamela (or Modric) - they know where teammates are, without having to look up - but with hard work he can compensate for this and learn to deliver the ball at the right time and in the right place.

I think it's not a case of not having to look up, it's more that they have their heads up & know exactly where the ball is at their feet & can see their teamates in front of them.

Along with Dembele, he frustrates me more than any other player we have. That said, he has huge potential and a good attitude and there has been clear improvement in recent games.

He's right about his goals and assists but those thing will come if he makes better decisions at crucial times in games. If he gets that working for him then he could be a star for this Spurs team.

I read an analysis of the great hockey player Wayne Gretzky. It concluded that his skill level was so unbelievably good that he could control the puck so quickly - almost semi-instinctly - that he was able to watch his team mates at the same time. Hence he never appeared to rush his next pass or shot because he had that split-second advantage over his opponents.

He's come through our academy, he's as Spurs as Harry Kane, Townsend is a winger, they are inconsistent, especially at his age.

I cannot understand the negativity towards him on this site, it's not like he cost £25 million.
