2-year contract. That’s not a massive vote of confidence is it? I think from that you can see he wasn’t first choice.

Hopefully we’ll all be pleasantly surprised. It’s difficult to judge what success really means up in Scotland.
Think 2 years seems to be the going rate these days.
It's so competitive and managers are on big wages, signing them to massive contracts doesn't really make such sense because of the compo if you need to get rid of them.
I think most clubs are going down the shorter contract route, just like Poch at Chelsea and I'm not even sure if he's got the third year option.

And what's not to say that it wasn't Ange who wanted two years, with us adding the option?
I think the days of giving managers five year contracts has gone now, it just doesn't fit the modern game.

Players will (usually) have a resale value but with managers, you're only set to lose money if it doesn't work out.

Mugs like you love supporting mediocrity, why are you getting so defensive? As you say, we‘re already rubbish again, after several years of competing for top 4, and now we‘re signing 4th choice managers because nobody with any sort of reputation wants to work for Levy. But yeah, projects, philosophies, etc etc…..more of the endless same BS.

You have no idea how rubbish we‘re going to be next year. We‘re going to get spanked by at least 4 goals in 3 or 4 games, if all this new guy knows how to do is attack. Naive and ridiculous to think otherwise.
I regret and apologise for calling you a dipshit earlier. I was gonna delete it but the conversation has moved along with it included so I'll just say I'm sorry for that - no need for it at all.

I also completely disagree with you and your argument has almost no merit. You're no better at predicting next season than anyone else. You have no idea about what process led to AP being appointed at Spurs and are running along with narratives of assumption about 4th choices. And the model you seem to favour - experienced "winners" and "big names" (presumably 1st choicers) who are not "naive" - have been given a good go at Spurs and failed. Their football was atrocious, their achievement was minimal, they didn't get anywhere near Poch's level, and they have set us on the path (with Levy) for midtable obscurity again.

So I'll be happy to give Postecoglu a good bit of time and space to sort out the "endless same BS" we've been putting up with for over two decades at Spurs, excepting the periods when Jol, Redknapp and Poch took the reins with their project and philosophical ideas and actually achieved things for us. That model has worked for us, and Ange fits that model.

Over half of the premier league clubs sacked their managers last season and the average tenure is about 18 months so 2 years sounds about right.
If he had been given 5 years Levy would have been accused of locking himself into paying out a big severance if it all went belly up.

It will be an interesting pre season especially with a squad that needs trimming down and for those that will fit into the style of play who are due back from loan like Udogie, Gill and Spence.

I reckon Ange will have a few players in mind that will be within Levy’s budget so it will be a win win. In a likely 4-3-3 the squad will quickly adapt. Bring in a new GK (Raina would be great) and sort out the CBs and sell or just terminate the likes of Winks & Ndombele’s contracts: that will be a decent window to start his tenure.

Also thinking a fit Bissouma in a more advanced position could work a treat as well as Deki being fully fit and also when Bentancur comes back (he is easily forgotten about, he will be such a crucial player for us).

Trying not to be too optimistic but it will not take a lot with what we’ve got. It’s been said for years, the defence needs sorting.
isn’t he like 50 now??

It'd be good, while the club continue to hold the fanbase in comtempt, that we weren't ****s to each other in the meantime.

Important phrases from the official announcement for me.

''He has a strong track record of developing players
and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy'' -

These both need time.

Two completely different leagues.

Our league isn't forgiving to pushing all players into the opposition's half on the attack. City is the only exception I'm aware of.

Also, we are far from having a squad with the skillset to do it comfortably and I can't see Levy being more helpful than harmful there.
