Latest ITK may point towards a Martial - Spurs player swap deal...? As unlikely as it seems. I'd be surprised if they're still in for Dier, having signed Matic, but Rose wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility.

Rose was phenomenal for us until his injury last season, but with all the controversy surrounding him, I do wonder if he has slightly burnt his bridges with club's hierarchy.

Unlikely but not impossible?

Swap deals are incredibly difficult to facilitate. Huge (financially speaking) ones like this I'd hazard a guess would be ridiculously so. Just don't see it happening, if of course that is even being considered.

There's something I never quite understood about that.

Am I wrong in thinking that a swap would mean less taxes than 2 separate transfers going opposite ways?

Levy would only agree if the swap was for similar players. My money is on one Frenchman for another - Martial for Sissoko :cautious:

I'm not in the UK, but corporate taxes are not usually paid on single transactions, but on total profits in a financial year. So the end result is the same tax-wise.

Gyid from ITK "There is a deal that could happen which is a long shot, this deal would depend on multiple others happening but would be massive for us but will also come at a loss."
If this refers to Martial, as has been suggested, it must mean more than a straight swap deal.
More likely that we sell a player to one club, that allows them to free up a player to sell to another etc until Man U get a player that allows them to let us buy Martial - again, assuming this is the player in question.
So, it's not just a case which of our players Man U covet.

More likely they just want to replace him as well. Mourinho wanted 4 with his current squad, probs one more if martial departs.

This. It's known they want Perisic, and if he or another like him arrives, then Martial is getting bumped another rung down.

got a feeling the latest bit of ITK by Gspurs refers to Rose and perhaps some cash for Martial, if RS happens.

Why does it have to be a swap? Could just be two separate deals

It could but there have been occasions in the past where one deal has gone through and the other has fell through last minute(not involving us).

Maybe our loss is bale I.e. They'll only let us have martial if they get him, therefore we lose our option / any chance next year?

Weren't Inter interested in Lamela?

I know his current injury would probably cause him to fail a medical. But with this potential merry-go-round, perhaps with Lamela going to Inter, Man Utd can finally have Perisic, and that would allow Martial to come to Spurs?

Anyone that thinks Mourinho's selling Martial to us especially after the last 2 games needs their head checked.
