I'm still so undecided on who would better suit us, Martial or Zaha. I think for his trickery I'd lean towards Zaha. He seems a real handful these days

He does but on the other side who'd you rather have leading the line if Kane were out for a sustained period of time? Both players are of interest because of their ability to play both roles, but for me Martial would be more productive playing the CF role.

Not a bad problem to have if we manage to be in a position to choose ourselves which 1 we want but hard to see it going that way.

Agreed. My gut feeling though is that Zaha is the more likely signing if we move swiftly enough. Unless of course he’s already going to the chavs

Yes but wouldn't Sonny be first up for the CF role, so As he or Martial would play second striker, winger.

Yeah but there's also a possibility of a Willian-Martial swap between Man U and Chelsea that leaves only us in a negative position. I guess that wouldn't be great for Man Utd either though because they lose a top talent and get an average winger in return.

Willian average? Lol.

I definitely think Martial is a better investment for his diversity and maximising his qualities but I do think that if we are all full strength Zaha is your moment of magic kind of player that can produce something out of nothing. It's a tough call but I'd certainly be happy with either

Martial is also younger. I'd prefer him (for the reasons you stated), but only just. If you said "you might be able to get Martial but you can have Zaha, but only if you take him right now" I'd take Zaha and be perfectly content.

Feels like Zaha was the right signing before Moura. Now, I feel like we need to give Moura his shot, and get something a bit different in Martial. A speedy, direct player that can also backup Kane.

Also, I really like the ability to shift to 2 up top with Kane doing his false-9 thing and Martial running. That system worked incredibly well for England, and had Sterling had the ability to finish, would have resulted in bags of goals.

I think zaha could do the same and would be a real star for a top team. I'd be very happy with either.

It's spinning, it's brown, it's splattering everywhere, and it smells vaguely like the inside of an abandoned fridge.

That's this transfer window.

Fucken mental. ??

Zaha has played upfront with Townsend by his side. If Kane isnt available, Zaha could lead the line alongside Sonny. Martial could have the more talent. But Zaha IMO has the edge over him in tenacity and willing to take the burden and excel. Martial comes out as a bit of moaner. Zaha's body language puts the fear in defenders. I can't see the same with Martial on his own up front.

I keep seeing this said, and I just don't understand it.

It would help, for sure. Aside from Lucas, who I reckon probably has iffy end product, we don't have anyone to really run at and scare defenders. Son to some extent, but he's not lightning quick and is more about good movement, also blows very hot and cold imo. Not to take away from him, think he's been a great signing.

Son is fast as fuck and the only winger in the world who doesn't run hot and cold is Messi. Lucas Moura scored 19 goals in his final season at PSG.

I'm not disagreeing that it would help but I fail to see how another winger in the league not named Hazard or Salah takes us to the "next level".
