We could probably get a decent homegrown backup at that price, I like Lascelles and we've been linked before. I worry Mina is a bit of a Sakho, physical beast, good in a low block but unsure on the ball, hence why Barca want rid.

I'd consider a loan but £30m+ seems a rip.

Lascelles i like and think he could be very good for us and is a leader..... Newcastle are not spending and fans hate MA so if he sold them then all hell would break at newcastle

If keeping Toby is what's preventing us bringing anyone in I can absolutely see us sell to Utd if they're the only ones with a serious offer. We have a heavy price on him but lets face it Man Utd are most likely to match that offer than us match theirs for Martial. It's clear their valuation of Martial is far too high for us which begs the question why we've spent so much time trying to sign him. We may be close to Utd in the League standings lately but when it comes to transfers we're in a totally different League. It's easy to say we shouldn't sell to them if they don't sell to us but reality is they can pay over the top to get one of our players, we can't do that to them.

I honestly can see a scenario where we sell Toby to Utd and they sell us Shaw since he is actually affordable to us. We sold Walker to City so I don't see why people think this scenario is any different. We can't compete with the Manchester clubs in the transfer window. If we can get as much as possible out of Utd for Toby though and spend on say De Ligt I would not be too upset. As long as we have a good alternative for Martial, someone that's not out of our financial reach like Martial and Zaha are.

Agreed, but it depends on if utd get another CB in.Maureen wants a CB so badly and I can't see Utd or Woodward. Waiting till the last minute in not getting one. I rate it as 10% chance of them changing their mind, but that doesn't mean we won't sell Toby to them

We would look very weak and the only way I see our fanbase being happy is if we wrap up some decent deals elsewhere which doesnt seem to be happening.

Are we sure Martial play ahead of Son and/or Dele Alli?
For me he is depth, Kane cover with the benefit of getting game time in other positions as well. Like Zaha would be.

Not buying the Yerry Mina link at all (although he is tall enough to get Jose's pulse racing). Think that's a leak on their part. Maybe they are starting to twitch.

They are looking for a leader. Mina may or may not be good but he couldn’t be considered a leader yet.

Selling Toby and not getting what we are wanting from Man Utd would be a horrible situation to deal with.

Its very predictable though and something I fully expected would happen.
