These are the prices for said players according to
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/english-football-teams/tottenham-hotspur-transfers

Victor Wanyama
£11,000,000

Kieran Trippier
£3,500,000

Michel Vorm
£3,500,000

Ben Davies
Swap

Moussa Dembele
£15,000,000

Toby Alderweireld

£11,500,000

To be fair, Dembele and Wanyama were in their final year of contract and I think Vorm was too. Toby wasn't wanted at Atletico and Trippier had a relegation release clause. Also the Davies swap was for Sigurdsson who was later sold for £45mill and prices in general have gone crazy lately.

I get the point that it's a lot of money but surely this summer is the one where we prioritise signing the right player over signing at the right price. Personally I don't think Zaha is the right player but if Pochettino does then I'll be less negative on it if it happens.

Was just thinking about Herc’s 22 year old cheaper option from Europe who’s supposedly our contingency plan if Martial doesn’t work. Cant help but feel like it might be Hirving Lozano from PSV. He had an excellent season, scored 17 goals and 11 assists in 29 games. Have seen him a number of times including live against Belgium, he’s certainly and exciting prospect for sure.

We will cave in and sell to them

you've a screw loose mate (or a troll or both) the same every TW

you don't cave in if YOU WANT TO SELL THE PLAYER!!!, and you can get £55m+ this season or £25m next season.

you only cave in if that player isn't for sale, Toby is for sale.

You are completely wasting your breath on this one mate.

I haven't got an issue with posters that have differing views to mine, but they at least have to have some substance to them.

Don't waste your time.

I can't believe the amount of posters that think this isn't a good deal Martial or not. I'd feel differently if Toby was wanted by Poch and the club. yep great defender, but 1 that's tried to take the piss (even if not him directly).

if other teams offered us anything near the price we are selling to Man U barr Chelsea, I think Levy would then be even willing to accept less

Agree. Whether or not it's a good deal for us (which it potentially is for the price) Poch wants him out and Man U seem to be the only other team interested.

What else are we supposed to do??

Why would Mourinho be willing to sell him to Chelsea in return for Willian but not to us in return for Toby.

I assume because it is more of a like for like swap than a centre-back for a winger/forward. Willian was out of favour with Conteh but i assume any new manager there would want to make his own mind up.

And would Martial want to go to Chelsea? I suppose he could discuss it with their manager to see how he fits into their plans next season, oh wait!
I suspect he has seen and likes our project and is happy to be a part of it, God alone knows what project Chelsea are working on or for how long they will still be working on it but it may actually be something much more personal for him anyway.
He may actually have a personal plan irrespective of any team, he may want to build himself back up to the French national side in which case he will be asking himself which option would be best for him in that ambition.

If we're prepared to pay £50/60m for Martial and we can't get him, then why can't we just pay that sort of money for Werner? I thought any stumbling block with signing him would be the inflated fee but is that necessarily a barrier any more?

Maybe because Poch wants Martial? We should be trying for players the manager wants, not the players some fans want.
