Antonio Conte has admitted it will be impossible for Tottenham to compete for the title next season, even after they finished the campaign unbeaten against Liverpool and Manchester City with a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Conte has consistently said that he “wants and deserves” more than another scrap for fourth place next season but he acknowledged that the top two are too far ahead to be caught in such a short space of time.

I don't like this kind of talk.

I hope he's telling the players something else behind the scenes.

We just need to put our best foot forward and see where it takes us.

Kind of obvious, isn't it? We're twenty-odd points behind City and Liverpool. How's that gap going to bridged? Winning the PL at the moment means losing, at most, two or three games all season. That's not us, sadly.

Can't see anything wrong with his comments surely anyone in their right mind knows we won't win the league next season.

Absolutely. It's about reigning the top two in and building consistency, then see where we are in January/February.

I don't understand why people keep getting so bent out of shape about Conte just saying it as it is.

I haven't read the direct quotes, but usually when someone from the continent uses the word "impossible" in footballing terms it should be translated as "highly improbable", which sounds about right.

Maybe people have seen what he did at inter and juve when the following season those teams became champions.
But in the EPL it's a lot harder to do as you say if he can close the gap down and cut out silly defeats along with a top four finish that will be fine, and then another good summer and possibly the following season he could have a crack at it.
