Fair play to him tbf.

He wouldn't have been guaranteed game time from the get go here. Brentford will make.an absolute bomb too if he develops well.

This transfer has been an information minefield. Even now, if he chose Brentford for playing reasons, then why was the agent still in our ear earlier today? Did he think we’d just cave and go “alright then you got us, we’ll give you guaranteed minutes now”?

Couple that with the fact Ally Gold gets his info from the spurs side rather than the players side, he’s a bit at the mercy of how the club wants the narrative to be painted. Not sure we’ll ever get the whole story so I reckon it’s best we just draw a line under it and move onto other targets.

The recruitment has been spot on for about 2/3 years now, so I’m confident when we do get a 1v1 specialist young winger, it’ll be a player who is a great fit for us.

Is what it is. Let’s face it, we’ve got plenty of players across the front line that have potential. We could actually do with getting some ready made players and have a serious crack at winning titles.

I mean, there's a tangible difference of 'missing out' on Diaz to Liverpool than Nusa to Brentford.
but if we can’t do either type of deal then where does this leave us?

Our recruitment has been excellent recently but not in forward positions imho.

Maybe they’ll prove me wrong if Maddison can stay fit to provide better service, but none of them look like posting the right numbers to me

Totally missing my point.
The point is that I have more trust in our recruitment now. Therefore, I not upset if we miss out as I trust that we will find an alternative.

If the player wants a mid-table Prem club because they can offer more playing time, fair play to him. If anything, it's admirable that he is prioritising his development at a club with a solid manager, over prestige and money. Not much we can do which is just fine. Our second choice targets have been working out anyway! ;)

Guaranteeing gametime must only be a verbal agreement anyway, and does not mean anything. If a club in the PL is that stupid to wright that into any contract you are prety muched fucked if he does not fit tin the PL

Spurs would never agree to that

Thing is if he plays well at Brentford and demands and £80m fee I can't see anyone paying that

Will be interesting to see whom we will target for this key position.

Because we may struggle again attracting a top young talent for the very same reason. There are times we've past up on talents like Scott and Olise.

But yet we're certainly not going to break the bank with a £75m Mitoma bid.

Disappointed.

Would be a shame, but if the lad has chosen them for footballing reasons, then it should be applauded. In an age where many go just for the money thinking they have made it, reasonably refreshing (I am sure he will be well renumerated at Brentford mind).

Have I got this right.. so he’s not always in the first XI for Club Brugge in the Belgian league, but is being given assurances over first team minutes for Brentford in the Premier League? 🤔

Not really disappointed.

Seems as though he was an opportunity buy, and not an immediate need.

Club discipline important - taking a punt on a youngster is great, but only at the right price. Gambling on player development is not necessarily the time to be pushing the boat out. See Spence, Djed.

Moving on from this then, I see Jonathan Rowe isn’t in the squad for Norwich today but haven’t seen as to why he’s not involved.
