Newcastle? They're sneaking up almost unnoticed on the blind side and I reckon are serious contenders for one of the two CL places that we're fighting for. Squeaky bum and finger nail bitten to the core time methinks.

I've been dismissing them up until now. Their next 3 fixtures are as easy as it gets though with Bolton (H), Stoke (H) and Wigan (A)....

Luckily they've got Chelsea (A) and Man City (H) after that though, but City will probably be out of the title race by then, so there's a chance of them getting results there. They have this skill of grinding out games which they aren't having more shots or possession than the other team, their game today was a good example.

Not really, I'm pleased they are doing well, if anyone has a squeaky bums it will be Chelsea.

As above, Alan Pardews done really well there & considering they were in the top 4 for the early part of the season until they hit the skids theyve done well to pick themselves back up & work their way back in. Fingers crossed this will be the best weekend of the season for us, if we beat Sunderland away & Norwich at home we could be 6 points clear in 3rd come Monday night if City smash the Goons !!

The ideal scenario would be us to finish 3rd and Newcastle 4th denying both Woolwich and The Chavs a place in next seasons CL. However the reality is that this four way tie for the two top four slots will go right to the wire, with no end of stomach churning twists and turns, ups and downs along the way.:(

I would love for them to get 4th and us 3rd. Although we would have no chance of stealing their keeper in the summer.

I hear that United are looking at Hatem Ben Arfa, anyone want him here?

I wouldn't mind Ben Arfa to be honest, I like the look of him. Think he could slot into that wide right position of the front 3 and the VDV position pretty well. Is quite a quick player too.

He'd be a great alternative to Lennon on the right. My only problem with him is how predictable he will get. He always switches to his left foot, every time he attacks a full-back. Obviously it's switching the full-back to their weaker side, but it really limits options if you have a full-back that catches on to it.

I was just wondering today if Ba might want a move in the Summer. IMO he doesn't look particularly delighted to be playing on the LH side of a front 3. He hasn't scored in 7 or 8 games now since Cisse has been there, and I wonder if he might become a bit fed-up. I'd only take him if we didn't get Ade on a perm, but he'd be a great option.

I regret us not scoring more goals when they came down to WHL, thought we let up a bit in the second half. Maybe if we'd have put seven or eight past them, it would have thrown them into some chaos.

I would think we should be O.K, just. Newcastle are prone to the odd off day and they'd need to win at least 4 of their remaining 6 games and get something at Stamford Bridge, who also need to win all of their remaining games.

The crunch match for them will be Man City at home, who may have completely imploded by then and not have any fight left in them after losing the title race.

Arfa would be a great addition in competition with Azza, but I doubt he would be up for rotating? He dives a fair bit though doesn't he, but I guess so would most after being snapped in two by De Jong.

Fat Mike Ashley has completely turned that club round. People laughed and scoffed, myself included, when they got relegated. However he's sorted out the finances at St Jam..oops The Sports Direct Arena, got rid of the big earners, got in a good progressive Manager allied to an excellent scouting system and they are now serious contenders for a top four slot.

A couple of years ago the Geordie nation were crying into their Newcastle Brown Ale, now their women are showing off their beer bellies and tattoos with pride at Premier League grounds up and down the country.

And Krul and Cabaye and Tiote and Ba and Cisse.

Can not remember Newcastle having so many players I'd love to see at Spurs.

Phillip Albert, Daviid Ginola, Gary Speed, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Tino Aspilla????

I think anyone who doesn't consider Newcastle a threat really need to reconsider their position.

They are a good team, with arguably the best strike force in the league after Man city, a great midfield duo, and a rock solid defence. Their only clear weakness is their fullbacks. In fact all in all they are not far behind Chelsea or even Arsenal in ability, they just lack depth to be a consistent contender for the top 4 positions.

They have some seriously good players Krul, Cisse, Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa. While these players would not start in every team in the league, there isn't a single team in the league who would not be improved by having them in their team. They have to be given the respect of their position, to fail to take them seriously will be at our peril.

I wanted Ben Arfa in January but I was skeptical of his temperament but he seems quite focused and willing to work hard now and he would give us a good option on the right wing

Bolton have won their last 2 or 3 league games I think so that may be harder than it looks. Stoke are never easy and Wigan are playing better too. I'd expect them to win a couple of those but they are potential banana skins
