Aurier looks a bit dodgy attimes. But then , the bloke needs games. Hasn't had preseason & attimes looks leggy. I hope fans give him the time to settle.

Don't think will see the best of him until maybe January needs time gel same can be said about Sissoko after having a full pre season he had started to show up in games.

The scoreline in the end did not truly represent the balance of play, certainly for the first 50-55 mins. It was uncomfortable at times and in the first half particularly much of that was self inflicted, but lets not forget the were several notable absentees. It was clearly the right thing to do when Poch switched it to 442, as defensively we looked more solid, although by then the wind had severely been taken out of their sails. The result was all that mattered and as far as things go for the first two games we could not have wished for things to go any better than they have panned out.

We have every reason to be optimistic, it would be great if we can find a point from these next two games against RM but that is a big ask and we will certainly need most if not all of the absentees back to stand any chance of getting to 10 points by the time we come to Dortmund.

As great as the position looks now my biggest concern is that if it pans out as we realistically think it could, it is not be beyond the realms of possibilities that we are looking at being level on points and and even level pegging with Dortmund H2H when they face RM in the last game who have already qualified as group winners meaning that whatever we do at home to APOEL it could be out of our hands, with RM simply settling for a draw, I sincerely hope it's not fixed against us in that way as it would be really galling....
Im not feeling good about getting anything off Madrid, honestly. I think we need to pick up at least 1 as bvb will 100% be up for their home fixture against us. We cant be faced with the prospect of hoping a team loses against an already through club in the last fixture as when those happen, they always play to a draw. I dont see us getting through.

I’m sure that this has already been mentioned on this thread, but it wasn’t on BT Sports, or anywhere else that I’ve seen so far. And that is that Kane scored the perfect hat trick! Left foot, right foot, header. Sweet stuff like that needs to be acknowledged innit.
Yes been mentioned several times, including the ratings thread

Winks has been brilliant tonight.

...Winks wasn't "brilliant" - Kane was "brilliant"...
...Winks was a serviceable substitute, given our injury/illness/suspension issues...
...he's added the Parker spin move to his repertoire, but he is too easily dispossessed - not physical enough for DM, not creative enough for DLP/AM - a useful squad role player at this point...

Well I would expect us to beat apoel at home so that would be 9 points so yes a draw at least in Dortmund should see us through, and that's factoring in that we probably will lose home and away to Madrid which is likely.

I would have liked to see our wide players take on their full-backs a bit more

This is especially aimed at GKN who had a couple of chances to run into space, but decided to stop and pass it back, or sideways

I remember when Lennon used to terrify left-backs

it's bizarre, given how well Walker-Peters both played there for England in the summer, and how well he did on his debut....

Against Barnsley last week, pretty much every time the ball came to him, he stopped, moved the ball onto his right and passed it back.

It was perfect for Barnsley. They’d double banked all came and new that he would pass the ball inside and they could concentrate on defending the other side.

Against Newcastle KWP played RB and at the u20’ he played LB and had someone in front. When he and Trippier play LWB play at LWB they don’t have the confidence to go outside and it’s almost like a wheel has fallen off the team

Everything was going well on BT post match chat with Redknapp and Jenas then she had to ask that fcukin question, will Harry Kane stay at Tottenham, seemingly he's not getting paid enough ffs:mad:

That's nothing. On Irish TV Souness said if we do well and win league etc that the players will go to Levy and look for treble their pay which he won't pay and they will leave. If we don't win anything the players including Kane will go to Levy looking for a move away.
This must be the current narrative the scriptwriters are pulling out of their arses.

Ally McCoist:

"Harry Kane is absolutely remarkable. The last two or three years he has been phenomenal. He doesn't score in August which is remarkable too!

It broke my heart when he scored against Scotland but he just looks like he is going to score in every game he plays.
Sergio Aguero is a terrific striker, Alvaro Morata is on fire, Romelu Lukaku has power and strength but at this moment in time I would go with Harry Kane.

He is a player's player. He works his socks off. Midfield players like him because he will chase lost causes and he will make an average ball look like a good one."

It's amazing that even last season I was having to defend Kane's ability on SC with one or two posters criticising parts of his game.

Am I the only one still looking for more from Winks? He reminds me a lot of Scott Parker. Fantastic on the ball, can pass beautifully, but not a lot of genuine creativity, not a lot of chances created.

I still think he has what it takes to develop into a wonderful player, but he's got a long way to go in my eyes, and I'm still not sold he will be the next Kane-style breakthrough.

In fairness, if he has a career like Scott Parker, he's done pretty well. I agree that I think his game will improve but only with matches. Last night was a very controlled performances. He misplaced 2/3 passes all night.
