They may be slipping but are still way better than us, we are not in a position to gloat

I wouldn't say they're slipping, probably treading water in terms of where you'd expect them to be. I think their biggest problem is Ozil at the minute, just hasn't performed since arriving and many are speculating that something just isn't right with him over here. Indeed he looks a vastly different player in a German shirt than he ever has in a scum rag. I think they are way too scared to do anything through fear of him being branded a (massively expensive) flop, but then I don't think they will improve unless he starts putting in a shift or they drop him/move him on.

Re: Özil, I'm not sure he will come good either.

For what it's worth, Schalke academy director Oliver Ruhnert who nurtured Özil through our academy had this to say about him:

‘Mesut was unbelievable at a young age, a real No 10. But now I don’t think he is the right player for the Premier League (with Arsenal). He is not a fighter. If you need to fight in a match then that’s not him. I think it would be good for him to make a new start, but he is too expensive for us now!’

I wouldnt say way better.

I would say we a different proposition with our first choice CB's and RB. How would Arsenal look with their third choice and fourth choice CB?

Welbeck
Ozil --- Wilshere --- Sanchez
Ramsey --- Flamini
Gibbs --- Hayden -- Bellerin --- Chambers
Tosser

Notice that they don't have any cover for CB.

Arsenal are playing a risky game and now that debuchy is out, it means Monreal, Mertesacker and Kosceilny as their CB optionso_O

I remember him being moved on from Schalke and then came to prominence on the wing with Bremen, especially during their UEFA Cup/Europa league run (escapes me if it'd changed by that time) that year. I can't say I've seen him play as well or influence a game quite like he did before moving in from the wing to a more central role, but judging from his no-show at the weekend, his midfield position wouldn't appear to be the problem he's facing at the moment.

Meatpacker and Kos are good though.
Is he?

I think teams don't isolate him enough, with the high line he can look like rabbit in head lights. Though kosceilny does protect him alot

they always seem to start off slow like this. then around mid-year they turn it around and end up top of the league.

much too early for discussion about them "slipping"

Debuchy out for a few months, and Monreal hasn't traveled to Dortmund. They are already in trouble.

Don't worry about Ozil the Gooners are organising a chant for him on twitter.

We've had this since 2005-06, most recently last season after they lost to Villa in their opener. Until we actually finish ahead of them, it's wishful thinking.

I don't think they are slipping at all. In fact I think they are probably at the stage now where they will start to become serious contenders in a few years. They've finally got the finances sorted and are attracting World Class players again and will probably continue to upgrade a position or two each season. It's going to be very hard for us to keep up with them until we get in our new stadium.

They always play shit at the beginning of the season, then they play us, and things turn around for them.
