Listening to The Spurs Show today, I heard this theory about how ENIC are wanting to sell the club in the very near future and at the moment they are trying to make the club as attractive a propostion as possible for foreign investors.

The theory is made up of these seperate parts.

1) Nice shiny new stadium plans. I think the idea is to have the planning permission in place for the new owners.

2) Nice shiny new training facility.

3) Squad with Champions League potential

4) Nice shiny new up and coming manager. Rather than an old cockney rogue steering the ship.

The point behind all of these things is so that the club look good to potential customers. After all, if you had a sales porfolio with 'Arry staring back at you it might not look so shiny and new and nice might'en it?

Its just a theory made in a bit of an off the cuff remark during the show but it does make sense to a degree.

Listen to 37.00 onwards to hear it. Its only a very small part of the show with no major discussion towards it but I thought it sounded quite plausible.

I do not actually think that this is whats going on but I thought it would make good listening and create something other than AVB to talk about.

Not too sure about that. Adding value to Spurs would appear to be frightening off any potential suitors. Abramovic and the Sheikh did not buy Chavski and City because they had the most potential for growth, largest fan base, or best stadiums. They bought them because they were cheap in comparison to all the teams around them.

Maybe, maybe not.........Remember, Daniel Levy could crawl under a snake whilst wearing a top hat.

If the right money was fronted I reckon he'd sell quicker than a pair of Alison Moyet's trollies to a tentmaker.

Weren't chelsea already in the top 4 when abramovich bought them? Yes they were, I just checked it. They won't have been that cheap, in fact Abramovich paid £60m for just 30% of the club. I don't think it was cheap, he wanted a top 4 team and bought one.

Who knows? according to some fans ENIC are only in it for the money anyway. Every season for the last few years the same old story comes out.

I'd love it if some Arabs came in. In the past I was all for the 'integrity' (lulz) argument, now I'd be buying a fake sheikh costume running down my street yelling 'oil me up and call me Abdul, the fucking Arabs are coming!'

Yep, and on the verge of Leeds-esque financial implosion.

Fuck you Football God.
I see two people jumped on my message as I was adding to it. In total he paid £140m and paid of £80m in debt. I don't know how cheap that is, but £220m in 2003 doesn't seem much of a bargain.

Stratford LOL When is it due to open again 2016! At cost to the tax payer north of £250m

What an f'in cock up by the our politician! Spurs at Stratford was a no brainer from the financial and stadium future.

I know fans were/had mixed opinions - What a shambles it is now. :banghead:

First of all the club are actively looking for buyers and have been for years. The whole point of the investment is to make a bundle when we're sold.

To that end the club is looking at every way but one to make us more attractive to buyers. The "but one", is to run us into the ground and therefore make themselves distressed sellers, which is the most popular purchase for Billionaires on the prowl for a new toy.

The best way to make us attractive is to win stuff, in particular the PL and to do well in the CL. To do that we need the best players we can afford. In addition ENIC need a narrative which convinces the club is going in the right direction, and with few obstacles in its path.

All of the above shows why Levy will be doing his utmost to make us successful on the pitch.

o_O I'm pretty sure that Harry wasn't sacked because ENIC are trying to sell the club.

Seriously I don't understand why we can't find some super rich Arabs to come in and splash the oil cash.

We're probably the biggest club in England not currently under foreign ownership.

Of course the problem, as always with us, is likely to be the asking price. If Levy's a notorious bastard to deal with when it comes to reserve team dross then what must he be like when it comes to selling the football club itself?
