I have just seen Sky's new year advert for Sky Sports which ends with the sentence "The Premier League Returns With More Live Matches Than Ever Before"
As far as I was aware the Premier League sells the rights to show 138 games in 6 packages of 23 games. Until 3 or 4 years ago Sky showed all 138 games and then the EU forced the EPL to sell games to more than one broadcaster. Setanta/ESPN have the rights to 2 packages or 46 games until the end of this season and then 1 package of 23 games from the start of next season. That means Sky currently show 92 games and from next year this will rise to 115, but seeing as they used to show 138 games how can they make the claim that they are in their current advert?
