i do think we are getting in there head a little a bit. basing this on reactions and some comments made around Chelski football club for example the feeling that the 4-4 last year costing them the title.

I would hate to be any team's bogey team, because by definition bogey teams are crap teams

What makes me laugh is that they still look at the 40 matches we didnt beat them, instead of maybe the last 5. If they were to look at the last 5 or 6 games they would see that recently it has been quite an even contest.

Nope, the fact is that in past few years we have played better against bigger teams and struggled against shit teams. And basically why? is that when we have started to keep the ball more than other teams they have got more counter attacks which have caused loads of goals against us. Then again against bigger clubs we don't have that problem, so our team much more tigh all the game.

Are you sure on that pal?! :)

Yeah pretty much, maybe they are not that much better than us is more accurate. They have been better than us for a long time even when they weren't as good as they are now they were far better than us as we were then (the 90's and early 2000's) but the difference isn't that much now.
If they used to beat us because they were better than us then it's fair to say they don't beat us now because they are not.
We are becoming a very good side.:)

I completely disagree. Chelsea are one of the strongest clubs in the world, and have a realistic chance of winning every competition they are in.

We are already looking like longshots for a top 4 finish. The gulf between the quality of the clubs is still rather large. We've improved in recent years, no doubt, but so have Chelsea.

Saying we're almost as good as them based on the last few games we've played against them is a bit of an odd way of looking at things. That's like saying Sunderland are better than us because they've beaten us more than we've beaten them in the last couple of years.

We've just started to raise our game against the stronger teams over the last two or three seasons.

We went almost 10 years without beating them. So it is nice we are at least turning the tide.

I'd agree that. They are better, but for the past three-four seasons things have been pretty close; even when we've lost, there's not been that much in it since the infamous 'park the bus' game four years ago.

What's slightly worrying is that we are capable of raising our game against the 'Big Four' (see virtually every game last season, regardless of result), but not against the also-rans.

Which is how Chelsea used to be in the Gullit/Vialli years... They'd play well against the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool, then shoot themselves in the foot by losing to Coventry...

Yes. We've shown that we can match, and even beat, the top sides in the league. These games are rather exceptional, though. If we can start to get some consistency in the 30 games that are not against the 'big 4', then we can seriously compare ourselves to Chelsea. Our league position and points total will back this up. It is nice to have some confidence going into these games, though, and my Chelsea mate has been pretty quiet lately.
