We are better than them this season no question.

I find it interesting that people think that RVP is better than Ade? He may be a better "player" in the al round sense, but there is no way is he a better striker. RVP cannot play the typical striker's role in that he tends to score special goals rather than tap-ins, I don't think he is an instinctive goal-scorer. Ade, although moody, is a proper striker. He scores headers, spectacular goals, left foot, right foot, on the shoulder, from deep, he creates, can score goals from nothing, back to goal, runs the channels, is strong, pacey, in short he has everything.

Across the park we are stronger, only Sagna, Wilshere, RVP and Vermalen at a push would get anywhere near our team and only really Sagna would be a certain starter. We would have to play 2 up front for RVP to get in, and we have 2 players who would rival Wilshere (Parker and Sandro) and it really is a question of preference as to whether you would choose Vermalen over Gallas.

Obviously King, Bale, Modric, BAE and VDV are better than anything they have.

For the first time I believe we have the better squad.

...................Gomes
Sagna....King(C) Varmaerlan Assou-Ekotto
.........(Wilshere/Sandro) Modric
Van Persie... Van De Vaart..... Bale
...................Adebayor

so many left footers

Would normally play King LCB but Varmaerlan is a natural left footed defender.

Subs: Friedel Gervinho Lennon Kaboul Parker Ramsey/Huddlestone Ch'mack

cannot agree that adebayor is better than rapist van rapist. i personally don't think it's really even close. the rapist gets injured a lot and is lethal. ade is more of a holder of the ball which in fairness is a good talent when in the opposition's penalty box. he doesn't have as good an eye for goal as the rapist.

my team:

-------sneezy (only just though)

-Sagna* Vermaelen King Disco

--wilshere Sandro Modders Bale

---van rapist Defoe

but i must very quickly add that about half of that team could probably be switched around with a lot of other players. it's actually pretty difficult to decide.

I like Defoe! but according to u, Adebayors that bad you'd prefer Defoe to partner RVP?

Been checking this thread all day, some very interesting selections. As a whole, I think we have a much stronger starting 11. Here's how my team would look:

Szczsney

Sagna - Vermaelen - King - BAE

Sandro

VDV - Wilshire - Modric - Bale

RVP

Subs: Friedel, Walker, Mertersacker, Parker, Walcott, Gervinho, Adebayor.

If everyone was fit and on top of their game, there's no doubt in my mind that this squad of 18 would win the PL. The only area I'm not 100% about was the balance in midfield. But fucking hell - how can you drop any of Van Der Vaart, Wilshire, Modric or Bale? It pleases me immensely that even without my Spurs glasses on the team is dominated by players in white.

One of the hardest decisions was choosing between RVP and Adebayor. As a centre-forward, RVP is the clear winner. However, Adebayor's link-up play in the last couple of games has been absolutely fantastic, would RVP be able to bring players like Modric and Bale in to the game as well as Ade has?

A Manchester team would be sickening, and would quite frankly tear this team to shreds.

Yes we are "better". I think we have more game-changers but the overall talent isn't that different.

Now, are we stronger? I don't know. Certainly our exploits of the last couple of seasons; getting over the hump we had playing certain teams, clinching 4th spot away from home against the direct rivals for that spot and going toe to toe with the very best of Europe last season should have helped galvanise the mental strength in our players.

I'm not completely sold though. Wolves away was a good start and even the strongest of teams, physically and mentality will lose games they should "on paper" win. No doubt we will lose a game or two and think - unlucky or damn sloppy. If it's the usual half dozen then we're "better" but it might not do us any good.

Have we kept treding water for a couple of seasons whilst the others (Pool and Arse) have fallen back to our level? I guess it doesn't really matter much. As long as we clinch that 4th spot and actually invest in those crucial one or two areas. 2 or 3 players bought wisely off the back of another top 4 finish and who knows where we could go...

Based on what, exactly, given that you thought the only time Defoe touched the ball against Wolves was when he scored?

Based on the qualities of the strikers.

RVP: Carried the team last year into CL almost single-handely scoring alot of goals in the process. I don't think theres doubt about his talent; great left foot, can score, dribble, play others in. Probably the best of the 4.

Adebayor: Very good lone forward; can hold up the ball, play others in, scores a decent number of goals. Versatile. Doesn't score as many as RVP.

Gervinho: Can play both in the wing and upfront; very willing and able to take players on. Looks the best dribbler and fastest out of the 4. Can't comment on how many goals he would score yet.

Defoe: Had 1 good season, and then a terrible one last year. Great/clean hitter of a football, good finisher, good first touch. Doesn't play others in, cant play alone.

I judge strikers based on how many I think they can score, and the extent to which they are game-winners. To be a game-winner you need to be able to play on your own; score or create a goal. Based on this criterion RVP ranks highest, followed by Adebayor. I rate Gervinho above Defoe because the former shows more 'lone' qualities whereas Defoe's yet to convince me he would start scoring 15+ again.

no adebayor? lol arsenal are pathetic without him and less dangerous. Wilshere not good enough yet IMO.

If we beat wigan and then arsenal at home 5 point gap assuming they beat bolton and game in hand

I hate these kind of threads because it is so pointless to make comparisons. Man for man you can be the best in the world, but you may still end behind in points to an infurior team. Also it is obvious a spurs fan will say their players are better and vice versa...
