Our first 11 was always one of the best in the league and I think we've had a good window personally and definitely improved the squad, which was our main issue last season.

Aurier > Trippier
Sanchez > CCV/Wimmer
Llorente > Janssen

Foyth I don't really know enough about but he's one for the future anyway.

People can moan about Barkley all they like but even if we'd signed him he wouldn't have played until January anyway so it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference. He's all but nailed on to come in Jan too having turned Chelsea down specifically to wait for us.

happier than I was a week ago. It was a pretty strong window. I would have liked one more attacking prospect but being the optimist I am I will just count on Winks to push on and morph into Iniesta 2.0.

I'd be happier if Sissoko was further away from the first team.

Hell I'd be surprised if they don't have his face up on the wall in the youth team changing rooms as motivation saying look how close you are to the match day squad, this guy is in it...

Should also pin it to Lamela's training bike or make his physio wear a Sissoko mask, to say "you are subjecting Spurs fans to watch this guy, so we are forcing him upon you until you are fit.

Satisfied with the signings made. All make sense.

Not bothered about some pace merchant that virtually everyone has droned on and on about all summer.

I am concerned though that we haven't got any alternative to Eriksen and the role he plays. I think that's what fans should be worried about. If he is out for any significant period of time I think we're in quite a bit of trouble.

Think we've improved it this window. So more solid with Aurier after Walker left, Sanchez and the experience of Llorente.
Would be happier if Lamela was fit, and we'd replace Sissoko and N'koudou with Sessegnon. But can't have everything go our way.

Yes, most of it, but I'm not happy with the subs for Alli, Eriksen and Son. We need to strenghten there in the future.

Never know, could be Marcus Edwards' breakthrough

Think that will be Winks, big ask but the kid looks special imo.

I actually love our squad. It'll come down to Lamela's return from injury and getting one of Edwards/Sissoko/Nkoudou to give us some productive minutes.

I think Edwards is the 'flair' creator if that makes sense. A few more risks, a bit more erratic. He's more competing with Lamela really. Eriksen is the calm, composed cerebral hub type that just keeps the game ticking.

Winks is an option but better in a deeper role, in my opinion.

At the start of the window, the only near-consensus was that what we needed was improved quality in depth, not major changes to the first choice starting 11, if there is such a thing.

All summer, we've been putting up with impatient people ranting on about how Levy will never do this or that, that we won't spend any money because of the stadium and that it was disaster because players were not being brought in by early July. The only point with a shred of sense was the last one, but looking at our business in the previous two summers, when we acquired Wimmer, Trippier, Alderweireld, Wanyama and Janssen prior to 1 August, it was clear enough that the barmy inflation in the market this summer had led to a collective management decision to wait and see who could be acquired for sensible fees late in the window.

The answer was "plenty" and, although there are no bargains anymore, we have acquired players, at values that look sensible in the market context, for most of the identified spots where we needed to improve the bench: Sanchez for Wimmer, Foyth for Carter-Vickers, Llorente for Janssen and Gazzaniga for Pau Lopez.

In the one position where we sold a first-choice player, we have a younger and arguably more talented replacement in Aurier, as long as he can keep his head on his shoulders and his fists in his pockets.

So yeah, it's the same Spurs team that finished 2nd last season, but with less of a drop in quality when we use substitutes.

There were two other perceived weaknesses: more pace needed and someone who could fill Eriksen's role. We may not have added pace where people were demanding it (wingers), but we don't really play with wingers and we have acquired three players who are seriously swift for their positions: Aurier, Sanchez and (reputedly) Foyth.

I'm less worried about the Eriksen-alternative than others. There are very few players in world football who can do what he does anyway, so it was a tall order to find someone who would not expect to play every match. And I think we already have a player who can make a similar contribution from a slightly different part of the pitch: Harry Winks. And an unknown quantity in Marcus Edwards. And possibly a resurgent Lamela.

Depends which part of squad.

Very happy with defence, believe it to be by far best in the league. Perfect Walker replacement too.
Happy with CM and Dier and Winks as cover.
Llorente is a very smart signing meaning got Kane cover and sub option.

Where I'm not happy is the attacking mids, right now I believe we're one short and if Lamela doesn't come back as pre injury Lamela possibly two. Sissoko is awful and unless GKN has a massive turnaround season or this is Edwards breakthrough year we need an injury free time or we'll have problems.
If we want to play 3 attacking Mids in a game right now the only fit and proven 3 we have is Son, Dele and Eriksen.

agree with @davidmatzdorf take here. The one part I'd emphasize a bit more is the cover for Eriksen. Am really hopeful Lamela will be back fit this autumn and people are forgetting how good and important he is to our team. Will give us a major lift. As will an improving Winks and an ambitious Edwards. Throw Barkley into the mix in Jan and we are loaded in the attacking midfield/ forward group.

The only real piece of business we need to hope for in the coming weeks is evidence that Poch has brought Rose back into the fold. Am hopeful of word from @Trix and @Hercules on this point. IF we have the pace of Rose to add to those listed by David we will be fine. Good work Levy and Poch! COYS!!!
