I’m taking this game as just a blip. We know that we can play much better and usually do play much better. We probably missed the calmness of Toby at the back.

Man City are too strong for us to overtake this season. Our target, realistically, is to qualify for CL next season and we’re still on track for that, despite today’s result.

Really disappointed by this today, think Poch got it completely wrong starting Foyth.

Just don't get it, we have Alderweireld and Vertonghen, best CB pairing in the league.

Its because hes not signing another contract. Walker was the best RB in the league.

Goal difference is usually a good sign of how teams match up, City are on +37, Liverpool +21, Chelea +19, Arsenal +14 and us on +10. Unless Kane starts rolling like he did last year we won't get 4th place, if he does we can finish 3rd. Couple of signings in January and 2nd place would be possible but that won't happen.

Gutless piss poor performance. Same as last year and Goons didn’t have to try too hard. Poor passing and decision making inside the first five minutes set the tone.

Arsenal played quick one or two touch passing football, cutting us apart. We seem incapable of doing that.

Not really sure it's Dier and sissoko's fault either. Was clear from the start that it wasn't the game for them, at least in the diamond formation. We were way too narrow and everything was bypassing them. That's really pissed me off that has

Emery outclassed Poch today.

We'll still finish above them

We will, but that was a hard watch. We'll probably be back above them in the table after this round of mid week fixtures.

For me, the whole problem today was that lack of calm and assurenedess at the back and they started fast and fed off that. We looked so cagey at the back it was unreal.

I started the team for Arsenal thread and specifically noted the problem with starting Foyth in a game of this magnitude and was hopeful he would start our best CB pairing, and crucially the most experienced.

Big mistake bringing Foyth in, and completely unsettled us at the back.

Bloody p'ed off with this. We were 2-1 up at half time and they were there for the taking. Our shambolic defending and poor tactical decisions during the match has cost us.

Collectively our defence have too many mistakes in them, especially Foyth who despite his great promise, has produced on average 1 goal conceded clanger each match.

Tactically, Poch doesn't make changes during games to counter new threats. When they went 2 up top, we should have dropped Dele back in central midfield and keep it tight, then pick them off on the break.

Torreira was brought in for something like £25m and comprehensively outclassed us in midfield today. Don't fucking tell me that the market is too difficult for us to possibly improve upon our most glaring weakness.

I knew when they signed him they were getting a bargain

Ok it's not the first time we've lost a big game. It won't be the last. We learn and move on. Got lots of games coming up. We must continue.

That is why Poch to Madrid is just media talk. He’s turnt around a lot at this club but with the players we have and the players they have we should not be losing that match 4-2. That is also no reason to sack the guy, but he does have limitations, especially with zero new signings. A bad result, a familiar story, but we can still have a good season. On to the next one.

sometimes you need to respect the opposition and I dont think Poch does this enough. Same mistakes with selection again and again!!!

Is this guy a winner or just about trying to play a philosophy.... Also note to the strikers stop being so FUCKING GREEDY !!! today it was Son who could have played in Ali

Pep would not accept this and neither should Poch

btw

Tim Sherwood has acted like a total knob this week talk about giving the opposition something to pin on the wall for motivation!!!

Arsenal will probably do what we've just done though, amazing today and will go to Old Trafford on Wednesday and be shit. Hopefully's that will be the case.

Exact same situation as last season. Let's see how they do in the second half of the season.
I agree with you but personally I dont really give a fuck about them, it’s more how pathetic we were today and performances like this worries me. Going to a massive game and most of the team didn’t turn up.

Ah well - I had put this down as a loss pre-game. Having said that after getting back to 1-2 we had a real opportunity to get a third while they panicked. But we couldn't find the right final ball. Frustrating - when you get given an opportunity like that - especially when being outplayed - you have to take them.
