The trouble is getting Ozil off the books will be almost impossible without arsenal still playing the vast majority of his wages still. He's supposedly on 350k/week and theres only a handful of clubs who can even contemplate paying that much for someone, and I can't see why any of them would even be remotely interested in Ozil.
Great innit!
Let them keep him for his contract and stop them getting others in

They’re only hope is an eccentric billionaire buying a little club, like Brighton, Burnley, or West Ham, and spunking money on flair players.

Like QPR and Portsmouth used to.

Unless China come for him, I reckon you're right, they are stuck with him and Kroenke won't buy additional expenses on top of that.

Trouble is the whole "China" thing has calmed down massively recently. I don't really know how it works but supposedly the government have put measures in place to stop it getting as out of hand as it was. I reckon even the Chinese clubs would struggle to justify paying Ozil that kind of money nowadays given that his "star power"/the publicity he generates is nowhere near high enough any more to make his wages worth paying.

I reckon the most likely scenario is he goes to somewhere, maybe a lesser club in Germany or Turkey for example, so Arsenal can save face by not having him hanging around like a bad smell/constant reminder of their fuck up, but they'll still end up paying 250k/week of his wages or something.

Even if they had to pay his wages, I'd just get him out of the club to stop the bad publicity surrounding the situation

There's a danger it grates on the rest of the Arsenal players, especially when Ozil has an off-day

Too much scrutiny on the guy isn't healthy

Yeah I'm inclined to agree. Him hanging around not in the squad just serves as a reminder of their cock-up and is just another distraction, especially given that he seems to be one of the prime culprits of this terrible dressing room attitude that's developed in Wenger's latter years and still persists now seemingly. Get him out and cut the losses I say. Trouble is that's easier said than done.

They have a 100% tax on transfers over 7m dollars.

Holy cow - is that the case?

So the Chinese club had to pay £30m for Dembele (£15m to us, £15m in tax)?

EDIT Sorry, that's £23m in total, because the tax applies to the £8m of the £15m transfer fee

That is the case. That's their way to make the clubs develop Chinese players instead.

Interesting - thanks

I guess there's no reason why the Chinese can't come up with a few good footballers; there's enough of them to choose from
