Aubameyang was admitted to hospital on Tuesday (my wife has been treating him). She said his room was filled with people in Arsenal attire including club doctor and physio so 100% Arteta knew by Wednesday that he had Malaria. It’s quite possible Arteta was just making an off the cuff comment to avoid questioning.

He’s fine by the way in case anyone’s worried about the poor soul.

Presumably Arteta would refuse to accept one, given he also said "a role in any competition “has to be earned” on the pitch". Unless he means it's ok if the role was earned on the pitch ...over the last 5 years or so.
They did lose a europa final a couple of years ago, so perhaps are somehow more worthy than the 8 sides that are currently above them in the league?
