So basically all they’ve done to upgrade 1st Xi is Jesus for Lacazette. And only time will tell if Jesus is actually a PL 9. And added depth where ESR couldn’t even get in the team ??‍♂️

For me, the point about the Jesus/Richarlison argument is this: Jesus scored goals in a PL-winning team featuring KdB, Silva, Gundogan, Foden and Sterling, to name but five. Richarlison scored goals in a side that barely escaped relegation and featured Allan, Gomes, Holgate, Delph, Townsend and Iwobi.

Now which do you think had the harder job and is the greater achievement?

What gets me is they are comparing Jesus to Richarlison, why not compare him to Kane as they are both first choice No.9s!

I don’t want to let Arsenal supporters into a secret. CL is important to attract players but it’s also necessary to have a top coach. Arteta can’t attract and/or don’t want top players that could question his ability.

Well the answer to that is that when it comes to second choices, Nketiah is clearly way better than Richarlison. I mean, the statistics don’t lie, do they? ?

He gave it away then.

"He's what 25? So he's not young then".

They have been so brainwashed into thinking a young team is what they need to succeed.

By the time these young players blossom, they'll have a year on their contract and a bigger team will come and turn their heads.

They aren’t considered a cl club by players anymore. Missing out for six years does make it hard especially if you have a young ex player ( who wasn’t elite) making his way as a manager.

Best part of Arsenal’s window is that they’ve identified good targets. Raphinha and Martinez are versatile, talented players with quick brains and excellent passing. I think both would improve them.

The harsh reality though is that they’re a Europa League club with Mikel f-ing Arteta as manager who pulled Jesus due to the City connection, and that’s about it. No one was after Vieira.

They’re coming to terms with the fact that their attractiveness in reality is far lesser than their attractiveness in their own minds. Love seeing people humbled.

Their fanbase seems completely brainwashed into thinking whatever their current project is is the correct and only way to do things.

The current flavour being of course a budget Man City. Quite interesting really. Pep is never going to take control of a club with the 6th best resources in a league.

I'm happy for us to be signing big strong battle ready players hand picked by our elite coach for his system personally.

The funny thing is there is no such thing as fucking projects.

In Football it's all about the here and now. You appoint a top coach and you sign top players, you have to do both at the same time to succeed. You need to spend money of course and get the recruitment spot on with who you bring in, but it's still about the here and now. Projects in football are realised pretty quickly, you dont build a team over a five year period, by then any top players you have will want to move on and you are constantly swimming against the tide.

With Klopp, he came in and within 6 months the greenshoots of the philosophy were there, they spent big, spent well, and competed. We have Conte, within 6 months the greenshoots of the philosophy are there, you spend big, hopefully we spend well, and you compete.

Chelsea never have projects, they just appoint the best coaches and sign the best players and they won loads of trophies.

Anything else about long term projects is just guff to keep the fans at bay. With Poch, people talk about a project but the green shoots of the philosphy were there after about 6 months. In his second full season we competed for the league. He was a bit different because we didn't spend loads, but we actually had a group of players we had accumulated over a few years that peaked at the right time, and we competed, but that's pretty rare to see.

Arteta will be in his fourth season soon.
Do Arsenal really think with their current project they are going anywhere? I just don't see it.
