The funny thing is there is no such thing as fucking projects.

In Football it's all about the here and now. You appoint a top coach and you sign top players, you have to do both at the same time to succeed. You need to spend money of course and get the recruitment spot on with who you bring in, but it's still about the here and now. Projects in football are realised pretty quickly, you dont build a team over a five year period, by then any top players you have will want to move on and you are constantly swimming against the tide.

With Klopp, he came in and within 6 months the greenshoots of the philosophy were there, they spent big, spent well, and competed. We have Conte, within 6 months the greenshoots of the philosophy are there, you spend big, hopefully we spend well, and you compete.

Chelsea never have projects, they just appoint the best coaches and sign the best players and they won loads of trophies.

Anything else about long term projects is just guff to keep the fans at bay. With Poch, people talk about a project but the green shoots of the philosphy were there after about 6 months. In his second full season we competed for the league. He was a bit different because we didn't spend loads, but we actually had a group of players we had accumulated over a few years that peaked at the right time, and we competed, but that's pretty rare to see.

Arteta will be in his fourth season soon.
Do Arsenal really think with their current project they are going anywhere? I just don't see it.
Great post but would add regarding Poch and players we also got shit lucky in bringing through one of the best strikers this country has ever produced. No Kane, no competing.
I doubt we'd be where we are now, even with the stadium, were it not for Kane.

What happened to Niall Quinn? I've not seen him doing punditry for a couple of years.
Not sure what he's up to at the moment, but I understand that he led a serious fundraising effort on behalf of the hospital in Sunderland, originally on condition that his involvement was kept confidential. Naturally (and because of his pulling power on Wearside), his wishes were ignored... https://www.stsft.nhs.uk/locations/niall-quinn-centre

So Jesus still hasn't signed, anyone know what's going on with that?

Just seems like they're all good, they just don't need to rush the announcement. Sadly doesn't seem like they're gonna lose their target or anything. Just feels like it's paperwork or something.

A great man. I think he may have been one of the first (if not the first) to donate all his testimonial gate to charity

Should imagine they’re holding off on announcing him as they want to do it in conjunction with announcing next seasons 7th alternate kit, Gabriel Jesus themed with Brazilian flags along the hem and hashtags instead of numbers.

Seen they are interested in Grimaldo.

I hope that one happens because I was told by someone who has worked with him that he has significant defensive weaknesses.

It could happen easily too because he is desperate to leave Benfica.
