Just seen this on MOTD.

Sean Davis tackles Arshavin in the box, gets a touch on the ball but the ref gives a penalty.

Arshavin wags a finger to the ref suggesting no penalty.

Discuss..

Was just about to post the same thing.

Fair play to the guy. Wouldn't get many players doing that now a days.

Or was he wagging his finger saying that was a foul i.e bad tackle ref, prior to realising what the ref had given ?

Whatever, we should have signed this bloke when we had the chance, he would have been awsome on the left for us.

Bollox to him now, he's just another gooner.

Robbie Fowler did something similar (against the Arse IIRC) a few years ago and then missed the penalty when the ref ignored him. Got a FIFA fair play award for it.

Kudos to him. However, this type of thing is unheard of from a gooner, he'll not last long with Wenger if he continues with such behaviour

Hmm...they showed it on MOTD (the fowler dive over the keeper) for which he got a penalty. Linekar said it would have been funny to see if he had chipped the ball into david james' arms, but he converted the penalty.

Who do I believe?

Regarding Arshavin, I personally think its because he is new to the league and doesn't want to get a reputation for being a diver or anything, as a result he timidly said no penalty. Fair play to him, but its not like he was running to the ref and sticking up for the pompey player. I also very much doubt he would have done such a thing if it had been an important game against a top 4 competitor, or had arsenal not already been 1-0 ahead.

Not going to take anything away from him though, fair enough.

I think Arshavin was saying it was no goal kick, not no penalty. From where he was it looked like the ref was pointing for the goal kick, Arshavin pointed to the corner. Having said that he certainly didn't go for the penalty.

Fair play to him if he did as has been said, refreshing to see honesty in such a foul world of cheating.

But seriously, anyone else just want to cut the guys fingers off? If he doesn't have them up to his lips he's giving Liverpool the 1,2,3,4 or wagging away penalities. Bloke needs mittens.

Spot on m8 he was saying Davis got the last touch and it was a corner because he thought the ref pointed to the goal kick spot

Keane has done it before, a few seasons ago when Richard Dunne took him down in the box

He probably thought the linesman was waving him offside...

But yeah, an Arsenal player with a bit of class? There's a rarity. Expect him to be diving around, kicking holes out of people, and spitting in the faces of assistant managers by the start of next season.
