SPURS are weighing up a shock summer swoop for Sunderland's Ghana ace Asamoah Gyan.

SunSport understands the hitman is on Harry Redknapp's shortlist as he prepares for the transfer window to open.
Redknapp will look to shake up his striking options and is a big fan of the former Rennes star.
Gyan arrived on Wearside at the start of the season for £13million but has taken time to settle.
He has struggled along with the rest of the Black Cats after Christmas bagging 11 goals in 30 games.
There has been no contact between the two clubs though Gyan is fully aware of Tottenham's interest and would welcome a move to London.
And with fellow Ghanaian's Sulley Muntari and John Mensah set to leave at the end of their loan spells, the 25-year-old will be losing two of his closest pals which will push him closer to an exit.

Boss Steve Bruce will fight hard to keep Gyan at the club as he also prepares for a major shake-up in the summer.

But owner Ellis Short is keen for Bruce to avoid the purchase of African stars with next year's African Nations Cup in mind.
Gyan, who has also been tracked by Bayern Munich, is out for the rest of this season with a hamstring injury.

Not enough of an improvement in my opinion. Especially considering Sunderland would want profit on what they paid.

I would hope he would be nearer the bottam of our list of striking targets than the top.

He has alot of talent, but I'm not sure he's what we need or that he can be consistent enough.

I really like him. he's definitely one of the best finishers about at the moment. not sure if this is down to form or actual class though.

I like Gyan also but I really want a striker who will not only bang them in against the lower teams but one who will strike fear in teams like United, Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

I don't think Gyan is that player.

I think he's worth signing just to see some of players dance when celebrating. Dunno who our Zenden would be, would love to see Modric throw some shapes. Him and Crouch could perhaps form the most lethal dance floor pairing of all time.

Strong, fast and technically adept, works hard, holds the ball up, is good in the air and on the ground and has double figures in a shit Sunderland side where he spend half the season merely as a foil for Darren Bent. I liked him from the world cup and I reckon he'd do well both in apre creative side than Sundeland lime us, and in a side where the balk would be played to his feet rather than hoofed over the top constantly.

World class for Ghana - Second rate for Sunderland.

You'd have to be bloody sure which one you were getting.

I like his dance after he scores a goal. If we sign him, we will see him do that dance of his every week.

Sunderland would be incredibly reluctant to let him go after Bent went. Wouldnt it leave Danny Welbeck as their only registered stiker? We would have to pay well over the odds.

Having said that, I think he could be relatively prolific. His goal record has been pretty good weherever he has been and he tore England apart in that friendly.

Plus we could generate at least a tenner in revenue from Ghanain shirt sales and TV rights.

They got a lot for Bent so I doubt they need the money. They paid £13m (or was it Euros?) just last summer and he has had a decent first season.

Because of that I imagine his price would be £20m minimum.

We know we're going to pay over the odds but it needs to be on the right striker. I'm not convinced Gyan is the star striker we should be looking at, I haven't seen enough of him to really make up my mind though.

If anything I think the opposite. We usually do ok against the big teams, we really could do with a flattrack bully to dominate the smaller sides we struggle against.
