Because of who he is means he won't be seen at Spurs and I've always hated Ashley Cole. However against Liverpool he once again proved how much of a fantastic defender and threat down the left he is.

Personally speaking, I imagine he'd rather sit on the bench for Chelsea picking up 100K a week, than come to us.

I don't like him either (what Spurs fan does?)... but turning down a player that has been rated as the best left back in the world for the past ten years would be ridiculous. He's a proven winner, English, and an outstanding player. Hasn't really played this season (and Jose rarely goes back on his decisions once he decides) so I'm not going to jump on the 'he's lost it' bandwagon.

Sure he'd never be a fan favourite - but we're crying out for a bit of experience, passion and leadership in defence. He looks f**king furious on the pitch sometimes when a decision goes against his team - something inherently lacking from all of our soft defensive players (laid back defensive midfielders included).

I can even imagine him lamenting the likes of Dawson, Walker on the pitch with verbal wake up calls...(i.e. put yourself in Walker's shoes....if one of the best full backs in the world criticises you...you listen) which is just what we need. Mentality is so important.

Though he's had a lot of ugly press for being a love rat, you never really hear that he's a problem in the dressing room - more so a good influence, and always seems liked by his team-mates (no matter how many fans detest him) - so I don't think his personality would have a negative effect in anyway.

He's also HATED by ARSEnal fans. Something which has always made an ex-Gooner coming here a little easier... ala Gallas, Ade.

We didn't exacly love Gallas before we signed him,
if he improves the team and provide the much needed experience and winning mentality then I don't care about his past.

May-be we could get him to convince John Terry to join as well.

And then we could see if Tampax would sponsor us next season.
