This is not an itk or anything but there has been some rumours going around that there are plenty of clubs interested in him if he becomes available (And he isn't so sure about his future at the moment:skysports).

Just wondering if anyone thinks that he can be a suitable replacement for Berbs as I think he is. He is probably not as mobile but has greater strength and just as great technical skills (Anyone saw his overhead kick against Man U? Superb technic and made a fool out of Ferdinand!). I think he is the closest English striker to Berbs you can find in the country at the moment in terms of ability as he can finish and bring others into play just as well.

I don't think he will cost more than 10-15 million and the only doubt I have of him is that he has had quite a few bad injuries so is he worth a punt ala Woodgate? He is still young at 24 and certainly worth a shot IMO.

What do you guys think?

No. Injury-prone and overrated. And two great goals in two games obscures the fact that in general he has a bit of trouble finding the target, let alone the back of the net.

Not a replacement in any way, shape or form.

Honestly don't rate him.

He (very) occasionally has his moments; but in the same class as Berbs?--not a chance.

Why move to general football...the discussion is to do with a spurs player (Berbatov).

I rate him veryhighly and think if he hadnt got injured he would be playing for England. Would be an awesome signing, just hope he can have a full season next year and bang in a load of goals , be it for us or West Ham.

I think the English forward nearest to Berbatov in terms of talent is probably Crouch.

And that says more about English forwards than it does about Crouch.

Agree.I would sooner spend the Berbatov money , on Ashton, Arshavin, Hart/Kirkland 30mil than on Eto at 30plus mil . Lets see what Bent and Keane can do, and put the money were we need it g/k m/f.Add Ashton and bring on Pekhart
