Aside from backup to Ade, I really think we could do with some cover for Lennon and Bale next... And I don't mean players like Pienaar or Niko or VDV or Modric. I really think we're missing Lennon mainly because of the system we play when him and Bale are in the team. When we play with two holding mids we end up lacking width where as with Lennon and Bale both playing we play in a way no other team does in the prem... We have the potential to overload and batter fullbacks and were doing regularly with both speedy wingers in the team.

So yeah, I'd love a speedy winger so we aren't forced to change our system simply because Bale or Lennon get a knock. Not sure who, if anyone, would be available, Young would of been ideal and I'd take Adam Johnson in heartbeat... Walcott would be hilarious... Not that I rate him but he would be great backup and piss off the gooners beyond belief.

I really don't think there are that many about who fit the bill and we're truly spoilt having two wingers with such ludicrous amounts of pace.

It's not just the pace either, it's the fact that Bale and Lennon are proper wingers who are great at getting on the outside. Pienaar, Kranjcar and Giovani are all players that love to come infield all the time. Same with Modric when he plays on the wing.

It doesn't stretch the play enough and the opposition can narrow their play and make it difficult for us to play through.

Albrighton would be perfect - in and out of the Villa team and with Villa's reported lack of funds, would likely be available for a mediocre sum.

Hoilett is the obvious one.

A double swoop from Blackburn for Hoilett and Samba would be 2/3 of the perfect January for me.

The last piece would be a striker or making the Adebayor move permanent.

I don't actually expect any of these to happen until the summer, if at all.

I agree we could do with another pace option, I have liked Hoilett whenever I see him play he can play genuinely play left, right or in a more central role. However I have seen others say that he needs to be carried by the rest of the team defensively which may go against him, I think I need to see a bit more of him play before I have a definitive opinion on him.

Maybe we could loan someone in (Afellay, if now fit?) and say loan Pienaar out and then re-assess the situation in the summer.

Hoilett would be great.

Thing is, we've just given Townsend a new deal, he is a winger, fast, skilled and comfortable with both feet and on both sides, and we've gone and let Leeds have him for the next 6 months. Give the kid a fucking chance, it's not as if he didn't grab it with both hands in his last appearance for us.

Arjen Robben would be nice and he turns 28 this month so a few seasons left in him at least. Probably more as he doesn't have many miles on the clock.

Would be a huge upgrade on Lennon cutting in from the right wing.

I find this puzzling too.
Clearly not thought ready but he looks good enough to a least be given the chance.
Sinclair looked good for Swansea.
How long is Lennon out for?

Could be back tomorrow, but if not then definitely Everton I believe.

Swap Pienaar for Hoilett.

Don't see there's any great difference between those two tbh. Hoilett is this year's Pienaar - solid and available, but not the right player. Hoilett is left-sided too, we really need a right-sided player.

Remy is the answer IMO - he'd give us flexibility with our whole front line, as well as direct competition for Lennon.

Is he available? Clubs like us don't just rock up to Bayern Munich and take top players off them.

Hoilett is nothing like Pienaar. He's still young, constantly improving and plays a much faster and more direct game, which is exactly the type of player we should be after. True, he's not great on the right side but he can play effectively both on the left and just off the striker.

Afellay is still out, probably for the rest of the season.

We could buy Hoillet then loan him straight back him to Blackburn until the summer so he can get some game time.

kerim frei looks to have more potential than hoilett, i hope we're keeping a close eye on him.
