Under the hashtag askMOwen, he's said he'll answer any questions for him via a video link on his app and online. He started it this morning and reading through the questions, I genuinely Lol'd.

The brilliant thing is, there's not one genuine question, besides the money ones, and even they're just pisstaking. Here's most of them. Poor fucker. To be fair, he just laughed about it via twitter. Daily Mirror was my personal fave.

@paddypower: #askMOwen were you gutted you weren't nominated for a TV Bafta for your performance in the Insure.ie ads?

@City_25: #askMOwen Does this top belong to you? http://t.co/rCiyaBRd

@AndreVillyB: #askMOwen Where do you get your tickets from for the match? I see you every week and they're good seats in the crowd.

@RealParkJiSung: #askMOwen Do you know we called you Messi because we didn't want to get caught 1 on 1 with you... In a conversation?

@MirrorFootball: Do you feel a great affinity with Bradley Wiggins, who has also won a championship while sitting down? #askMOwen

@FootyHumour: #AskMOwen How do you feel about about this statue that was made in honor of your time at Manchester United? http://t.co/lYmnVuYp

@BigJohnTerry: #askMOwen Did you ever think you're just like Liverpool? good back in the day but now finding it really hard just to play football

@FootyHumour: #AskMOwen Which stadium has the most comfortable bench?

@HeskeyHeskey: #askMOwen I scored more goals than you in the Premiership last season. #LOL

@BigJohnTerry: #askMOwen have you got a wife?

@Dante_Banks: #askMOwen If you cross breed a cat with a goldfish how long is it before you realise your career ended 6 years ago?

@AlanPardewNUFC: #askMowen Our tea lady needs a holiday, can you cover? There is little to no sitting down involved though, will that be a problem?

@greglarmouth: #AskMOwen I'm expecting a parcel on Thursday, would you be able to sit in for me while I'm out? I have Racing UK & ATR & my sofa's leather?

@m1cklfc: #askMOwen If a plane leaves at 8:53am & another at 9:32am both travelling at 532mph, at what point would you realise you're still a bellend?

@graham_large: #askMOwen Michael, Igor Biscan has a Champions League winners medal - do you?

@greglarmouth: #AskMOwen as a child, did you dream of playing football? If yes, why did your dreams die, and the pursuit of money overtake those dreams?

@weldy1980: #askMOwen If u had a choice between recieving a personality or being good at football, which wud u choose?

@steveuk30: #askMOwen Is it true you will only sign for a team if they have a heated bench ?

@JulianRWPower: #askMOwen Does it upset you that Robbie & Gary had more successful solo careers than you?

@youngin_uk: #askMOwen on a scale of 1 to Alex Ferguson, how much whiskey do you drink?

Some it's funny, some of it is borderline twat-ish.

Is there any real need to call Michael Owen a bellend, for example?

Twitter has been annoying me of late (I've only recently started to use it) - people feel they can say whatever the fuck they like to whoever they like, it encourages the Xena Keyboard Warrior Princesses to come out in force.

Man has 40 goals for England, played in major tournaments and played for Man United, Liverpool and Real Madrid. I'm sure he doesn't lose too much sleep in his multi million pound property worrying about insults he receives off nobodies on twitter!

Some of it is amusing though tbf!

I agree whitelight. I hate twitter for exactly those reasons. I follow a few, footballers & comedians etc but I hardly ever post. Twitter shows how rude, racist and ignorant lots and lots and lots and lots of people are.

But when you leave yourself open for a Q&A.....

He gets far more shit than I thought he would. Liverpool and Newcastle fans hate him. Man U & RM fans are either way.

I have to admit I felt compelled to add to it - and couldn't even come up with a witty remark.

Afterwards I realised that - actually - there are plenty of legitimate questions I'd like to ask him. Career highlight? Did he feel unfairly treated by Madrid considering his decent goals-per-games ratio? What was Hoddle like as a manager? Did he regret quitting Liverpool just before they won the Champions League? Favourite goal? Favourite set of fans?

Twitter really does seem to be filled with utter ****s.

I actually think he doesn't deserve a lot of that. He has been plagued by injuries later in his career and then was given a chance to move to a club capable of winning the league. He did it but couldn't force his way in to the team.

I have a lot of respect for Micheal Owen and do not understand the level of abuse he is getting, but then Twitter and the internet generally brings out the worst in a lot of people.

I can see Liverpool fans not exactly being fond of him going to man United, but feck me he did via Real Madrid and only injuries scuppered his career from being up there with one of the best of an Englishmen in history. 40 goals for England can hardly be sniffed at after all.

Wouldn't take him to Spurs now, but he was a very decent footballer and always kept away from the media furor, rather like Gary Lineker, i.e. one of the nicer footballers.

Used to marvel at Owen when Liverpool came to the Lane, one of the highlights of the season for me, back in the day. Short memories, some people - one of the top ten strikers I've seen live, without a doubt, possibly top five.

Anyone seen Leon Knight ripping into Danielle Lloyd on twitter tonight? He's being bang out of order and saying to Jamie O'Hara things like 'your wife is a raging hoe' etc and she's been passed around the tottenham dressing room. What a ****.

Would you wife a bird who has shagged half your work colleagues?
