Aston Villa have confirmed that Norwich City boss Paul Lambert has been appointed as their new manager.
A statement on Villa's official website said: "The board of Aston Villa are delighted to confirm that Paul Lambert has been appointed Villa manager."
Villa have been without a manager since sacking Alex McLeish the day after the final game of the season.
Lambert, 42, guided his Canaries side to a 12th-placed finish in their first season back in the Premier League.

At least they won't be a disgustingly defensive outfit now. Glad that ginger **** McLeish has fucked off. Despise that pasty teabag.

Bad move for Lambert who I reckon is a promising manager. That Club has got bad chi on a gypsy/indian graveyard plus severe piles.

Yeah, two very promising managers have made extremely risky career decisions this past week.

I think it is a club that lambert can show he is able to turn the corner on. Bring stability and prove consistency with. Risky but I can see why he has opted for them.

Yeah, a good season or two at Villa and he'll be on the move again to somewhere really big. Just as promising a manager (in fact, possibly moreso) than Rodgers imo.

I actually think much more so. Successive promotions in an impressive manner. Unbelievable achievement really. He even did well with the team he was with before Norwich (forget the name).
Rodgers has more style but I think Lambert will prove the more successful, we shall see.

Colchester before Norwich, Wycombe before them. He's been a success wherever he's been.

I know Spurs_Bear is a massive fan of Lambert, and I have to say I agree with both him and a comparison I saw which likened Lambert to Mourinho and Rodgers to Wenger/Guardiola in their tactical approaches to the game. Lambert seems to possess that adaptability which allows him to set his team up in the best way to beat the opposition, whereas Rodgers seems to stick with Plan A at all costs (a lovely plan A it is though).
