I'm gonna be in a box which is obviously awesome but I won't get all of the atmosphere which is a bit gutting.

At a risk of repeating my post in the match thread, it would be great (but alas impossible in these days of all-seater stadiums) to recreate the atmosphere of that first foray into European football in 1962 against Gornik.

We had lost the first leg 4-2 in Poland, but that it only part of the story. I remember coming home from school and listening to the radio commentary. We were trailing 4-0 to a Gornik team inspired by their great inside forward, Pohl, but in a parallel to last Tuesday we managed to pull back 2 late goals.

For the return, a capacity crowd of 66,000 fans created an atmosphere that I have never experienced since. Almost 50 years on, it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end - it really was electric. I was at the Park Lane end with my father (a Gooner!). A fortunate choice as it gave a great view of our 5 first half goals. We started at a frenetic pace and were three up within 20 minutes. There was a temporary set-back when Pohl scored for Gornik but that just delayed the inevitable. It was 5-1 at half-time and 8-1 at full-time.

An unbelievable atmosphere and an unbelievable match. I can remember that night better than last Tuesday's game in Berne (although I was half asleep after 15 hours in a bloody coach).

So we all need to create twice as much noise tonight so that we can create the effect of a 60,000+ crowd. Your team needs you...

For those too young to remember (most of you), I found this on youtube.
