there can't be 5 english teams in the competition. winners would qualify at the expense of the 4th place team. The rule changed when Liverpool won it, and they allowed Everton to stay in as an exception.

Don't know what the ruling is on max teams from one country but given the amount of English clubs getting to the later stages in Europe the English coefficient is likely to be on the verge of giving 5 English teams entry.

The maximum CL entrants a country can have is 4 so no matter how good our co-efficient is they will not let us have 5 at least while Platini is in-charge anyway

England actually got five teams in that year. Everton had qualified 4th knowing that, the way the rules were at the time, they would be in the CL no matter what happened in Istanbul. When Liverpool won they got a "freebie" CL place from UEFA that had nothing to do with the English allocation and had to start in the 1st qualifying round.

Then later that summer the rules were changed so no country could have more than 4.

Just be careful that we are in forth and Chelsea are fith and they win the CL

A scenario where Spurs and Chelsea take up 4th and 5th place in the league (doesn't matter which way round) AND play each other in the final of the champions league would be the most tense and important game in our history.... it would give hundreds of londoners heart attacks due to the stress!

Whoever wins the final would be champions of europe and gain entry to next years competition, whoever loses would get europa league. It would be the most soul destroying final defeat ever.
