Firstly I think we have made some great signings - 7 international players with a different mentality - and we have Baldini.
The team will definitely need time to gel. I believe that the last two signings, Lamela and Eriksen, will be what we may have been missing in terms of creativity and set pieces and the cutting edge in the final third! It also looks like Holtby is on fire and I have been impressed with his return and attitude and believe that he will be very good for us this season. I believe that he will be one of the player that AVB will transform just like he did with Bale.
We have depth and strength with Capoue, Paulinho and Sandro who was very good when paired with DEMBELE last season.
Our defense have kept two clean sheet but my concern is LB and DAWSON. At times I think we are really unfair to Walker. Yes his game needs to improve but he's not that bad. We definitely have a world class keeper in Lloris.
AVB now has a good IMPROVED squad to last season where we finish 5th, 1 point less than our bitter rival yet with record points. With AVB, we also beat Man U at OT and Man City who had better players than we did! Obviously, we had G. Bale who has gone to RM for a record fee after we have been shrewd in the Transfer Market. We didn't deserve to lose against the scum. we had more possession but just lacked in the final third. i do expect better and i think with Eriksen, Lamela, Holtby it will click. we also have Lennon, Siggy, Chadli and we need to give them a chance as they are still young and will improve or re-find form! We have a strong defensive midfield in Sandro, Capoue and Pauli.
AVB possess a winning mentality and is tactically minded. At times I question his substitutes but at the end of the day, he is the gaffer and spends time with the players and knows better. Most games he proved us wrong!
I certainly believe that this season we will win a trophy, I think it will be the Europa!
I am very optimistic although I believe that Levy may have to support his manager again in January as we tweak with the squad to take us to our goal of top 4. We have spent only £4 million net (speaking under correction) and so perhaps 1-2 more signings may be called for in a few months time.
The future is bright. We have the right director of football in Baldini, the right manager in AVB and a better squad.
My appreciation also to DL who brought those two! So lets get behind the team and BELIEVE - we can make top 4 and as the team gel.
