Agreed.

Although Dembele was pretty ineffectual, as was Eriksen and Defoe

Just don't know what the fuck is going wrong

The right subs, but the machine isn't working well so everything is slightly off.

Need to buy in Jan to get the remaining parts to make this machine hum.

Statistically, the best time to make a sub is min 62. It's something to do with how the human mind lags in weighing whether the options have changed and when is the best time to make any change. Apparently we are so fixated with the idea we were right at first we delay making a change too long until its too late.

Where do we buy to improve? If we're to buy, we need to buy real quality that will immediately improve the XI, not add to a squad. That requires potentially heavy investment though.

There's no point spending the money we have and only building a partially functioning machine, we simply have to spend what we need to to complete AVB's project or it we won't be able to do what he wants his system to do.

We are experts at leaving the job unfinished when it comes to player recruitment.

Go all out to buy a LB, RB, CF, CB and we will be on our way to a new era of success imo.

Gotta finish the job.

We got Baldini, we got the money (...oh yes we do), we're just short 4 players.

I bet Baldini has been busy as fuck tbf, he'll be right on this imo.

If we're brave in Jan and baldini works his magic, it's all systems go.

Our fullback situation is too weak for this system. Need to create fierce competition on both sides.

Have to give our young, talented side to nurture - especially our midfield but I'd certainly advocate going for another forward and no one fits the bill better than Benteke for me.

Agreed and it's easy to talk like this but I don't see Levy parting with £25 million + for Benteke.

He was supposedly reluctant too pre-Soldado purchase

I would say that's more conjecture in terms of his reluctantness but nevertheless, I can't imagine we've completely abandoned our interest.

We defenitely need a plan B at times from an offensive point of view and in the absence of a fully focused Ade, it's that type of striker we should be targeting.

I'm sorry but I'm fed up of the stick Walker gets. He is so under rated it's funny. Apart from Zabaleta, there probably isn't a better RB than him in the league. It's funny to see people hailing Baines as the second coming yet his defensive ineptness is totally ignored.

What quality is going to improve our team seriously other than LB we cant get any players better than what we got unless they are world beaters

GK: Lloris best keeper in the league
RB: Walker is a good young RB
CB's: We have Kaboul and Jan with Chiriches fast looking like a brilliant young player for the future
CM: quality is unbelievable there
AM/Winger: we have a player who English pundits:rolleyes:, are calling a important player after two games WTF but he has been brilliant. We have players who scored 15 goals last season on the bench, Ajax's next great AM youth product and a player who is in front of Dembele, Fellaini and etc for Belgium in Chadli(who didnt make the Bench.

ST: Soldado, last season the player with the best conversion rate in Europe and La Liga iirc

The problem isnt all just the players fault and down to bad performances, its also down to the fact our creative play is coming from drills it seems. Instead of movement from our players pulling the other team out of position.

Not being coached properly.

I think AVB needs the balls to play his 4-3-3 and get us attacking. That is what we are after and we have the personnel to achieve this, AVB just needs the balls to do it.

You're forgetting how turgid and slow we've looked without Danny Rose - I really rate him, even though I thought he'd be the one weak link pre-season. I really don't know if any replacement would improve us for what it'd cost. Baines? English premiums on him. Coentrao? As far as I remember, he didn't want to play for us. I heard talk of Sorg, Freiburg LB, but as a known quantity Rose would be better.

We might however need another CB, as Kaboul is increasingly looking broken, Ledley-style. But that's up the physio's and AVB to assess. Throughout the transfer window I was pushing for us to get another left winger, but that's before Townsend became first-team standard, so I don't think we need another.

I really hope we go for AVB's patented 4-3-3, based on incredibly quick thinking and feet as you have the ball, Sandro/Capoue takes it off your toes while you blinked, then passes to the nearest midfield player, as they're busting a gut to run up the pitch then quickly interchanging the ball between the players rushing towards the goal. Unfortunately, this quick tempo only works when the players know exactly what each other are thinking, and that ain't gonna happen in 2 months. Real intelligent football, and more importantly, exciting football, is still to come.

Movement:

It's not that easy Against a team with 10 men in their own box.
I completely agree that movement is key, but I don't necessary believe that we don't try.

Lennon had several runs behind the fullback, but There wasn't space to play the ball because They had 5 men in defence. Also, Lennon only had 10-15 meters of room to run in so he had to stop When the ball wasn't played at the right time.

Also, the 5-men line made Them able to man-mark our wingers. This made it hard for walker and Jan to play the ball up to our wingers and then overlap.

Considering these things, our midfield 3 had to play alot amongst themselves and up to soldado, making it very narrow and difficult.

I'm not saying its impossible to score and play better, but you need excellent timing, precision and quality.
And those elements take time to develop. Another option is having a target man like benteke to head Them in from crosses, or a suarez type who can beat 3 defenders in a phonebooth. (Hate complimenting suarez).

It's not really as simple as "get us attacking", is it?

We are attacking. We're literally camped in the oppositions half. We're just lacking that creative spark to unlock teams that set out to camp 11 men behind the ball.

I'm not sure inverted wingers are the solution though, because as it stands the middle is pretty fucking congested. It's easy enough to understand WHY we play like this, as we don't really have a natural left winger. Townsend could (and should imo) be played there to see how he gets on.

Slightly more on topic; Was surprised with the half-time sub, and almost as surprised when Eriksen came on for Holtby in the 59th minute. It's almost become routine with no changes until after the 70th minute.

this spurs side lacks intelligence and a brain on the field of play. someone or a group of players who who see the bigger picture and who can play between the lines. they only have one way of playing and simply cant mix it up...slow play across pitch or backward using the wings or back again... sometimes we can but in the main playing between lines , clever movement and one two;s are just totally alien to us...its so so so so slow and predictable.. there is a nucleus of players we have maybe 5 or 6 .. rest are brain dead and clueless imvho. truth hurts but what you get and what we have got with spurs for long time is performances like that today.

a very very lucky penalty decision won the day and also makes me laugh when i read how defensive hull were .. yes they defended deep and in numbers but they actually looked way more dangerous than us when attacking.
