AVB now sacked 4-March - Di Matteo to take over

I would not be surprised at all if this happened inside the next week.

Player power will force AVB out

EDIT - AVB sacked on 4-March

AVB could be gone by midnight tonight.

It wouldn't surprise me if AVB turns up on our shortlist if Harry leaves. Could be a somewhat realistic target too.

I think he's a quality manager who needs time to adapt to the EPL. But I also think he would do a better job with our team too. We're a better fit for him I think.

Would be a big risk though.

Think he needs a DoF above him , let him get on with coaching and tactics

I think RA will put a stipulation in his payout that he can't work in England for a year

I think he is a talking arse and I really don't think English players would buy into his vision or pay much any attention to the motivational clap trap that he spouts constantly.
He has made absolutely no difference at Chelsea, they still play exactly the same way, only worse.
He should move back to mainland Europe.

The job at Chelsea has come too early for him when there are too many ageing egos around the place.

Too many aging players with huge ego's are his problem at Chelsea right now.

It's rumoured that these old, arrogant gits still see him as Jose Mourinho's coach as opposed to a manager in his own right.

I think he would be a decent fit at our place although as mentioned above, if he leaves Chelsea its highly likely that sugar daddy would insist on a period of gardening leave, keeping him out of English football for a year or so.

Sacking AVB would be a mistake imo. Yeah he's really struggling, but he's working with a lot of players who are still pining for the return of Mourinho and, as those players are past their prime (Terry, Lampard, Cole in particular) Abramovic would be better off backing the manager to build his own team than paying out compensation for yet another manager that the players won't accept.

In the meantime, watching them struggle is brilliant.

His problem at Chelsea is that he doesn't have a clue. Another flavour-of-the-month one-season-wonder.

Should have stayed at Porto for another few seasons. Too early for him. Chelsea was always the wrong team for him.

Really thought he'd be gone by now, maybe Abramovich will give him a few seasons so that Drogba and Lampard can move on.

Either that or he'll be offski when Napoli draw at Stamford Bridge in 3 weeks, seems a long time between legs does that

It could be one of those poisoned chalice positions though that whoever went there and had to clear out the ageing egos and rebuild the squad for the future, was going to find it difficult to do that AND still remain competitive. Torres lack of form has just compounded the situation.

Roman isn't going to give him the time needed to do that you wouldn't have thought. I've been saying for the last couple of seasons that dynasties fail and United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all struggling in comparison to previous seasons. United less so obviously but then when SAF goes who knows.

Levy simply can not sell any of our better players to these teams to help them rebuild. Hold our nerve, knock the money back and the future is lilywhite.

There's a big gap between 5th and bottom though.

The thing is with AVB is that he's trying to totally transform the Chelsea team. His biggest problem is he doesn't seem to be making a slow transition. It's like he's trying to force his style too quickly.

Tonights game against Napoli though was totally un-Chelsea like. It was reminiscent of the Spurs approach in the Champions League last season. We got hammered ourselves last season when we approached Madrid with a wide open set up.

Wenger struggled early on with Arsenal though and he was doing a similar type of thing when he took over the George Graham team. These things take time.
