And yet with two games to go two more points would give us the highest ever fifth placed points total since the premiership began. 12 times out of 17, 68 points has been enough (or more than enough) to finish in the top four.
Very good point BUT this season we have relegation race which involves 8 teams atm with 2 games left

Also normally 40 points means that safety and is the aim for 5 or 6 teams at the bottom whereas this season the whole bottom half has barely managed that

Also 50 points is normally required to finish top half and yet the top 7 have beaten that so far. This year the bottom teams have not taken as many wins as they use to hence the relegation race involving 8 teams up until yesterday

This also still doesnt change the fact that only one team has dropped more points than us from winning positions and that is Southampton, had we had half of those points we would be 7 points behind United. If we had all of them we would 5 points in front of United(of course that is highly unlikely of course).

Like I said before AVB shouldnt be judged this season but next season imo, they has now a idea of the squad and what he needs and wants to make it better.

Here you go fellas, the quotes written by Mick Dennis in the Daily Express;

There are insiders at Tottenham who are sneeringly dismissive of AVB.

They are not those with power, admittedly, but at least two men who have the ear of those with power think the young Portuguese is a fraud: his reputation as a coach being based entirely on one season with Porto – a club who had won before him and have continued winning since he left.

Mick Dennis, or 'Mr Impartiality' as Arry calls him.

This is what he wrote in the wake of the Redknapp sacking

This could be Tottenham’s Charlton moment. Charlton fans thought Alan Curbishley had “taken their club as far as he could”. A new manager would take them to “the next level”.
They were right. Charlton went down a level, and then down another one.
Now Tottenham have demonstrated the same ignorant appraisal of football, the same shocking ingratitude and the same deluded sense of entitlement.

Great the Martin Jol Brigade have come back and they have a new hero and his name is AVB. What is it with this section of our fans? Anybody who is average they just latch onto them in some homoerotic obsession. I for one believe now that the rumours circulating about him during his time at Chelsea were true and that his underdstanding of the game is very limited and the small knowledge he has is from books.

An article a while back had a direct quote from two people high up at Spurs who said 'we think he is a fraud'. When have you ever heard a manager being called a fraud?

I just..... o_O

Someone needs to slap some sense into you son.

But on the flip side we have dropped 24 points from winning positions this season and yet we are still in the race, it shows how poor the rest have been tbh."

If we get 4 points from the next 2 we draw with our record. 2 wins and it's our best season total ever. Considering we finished 4th last year with less points, I'd say the teams around us have got better not worse.

Points wise yes, performance wise no and points wise the teams under top 8 or so under performing as a whole tbh as is seen by the fact anyone below 11 can still get relegated

also chelsea gave up early last season to focus on the CL

Doing a good job eh

I was a wrong doubter.

Without our two best midfielders too today - Sandro and Dembele.

Please back him in summer Levy
Well in mate. Good on you.

I'm staggered by the job he's done so far tbh. Made it look too easy probably, if one actually stopped to look and see what he's done with an already unbalanced squad. Thrown in huge changes to the first team, loads of new signings and then ridiculous inuries to key players throughout the season and well, he's handled it all in his stride.

We need DL to do his thing now. If he doesn't back AVB, it will be the first manager I could remember him refusing to and would make no sense at all. SO I'm quietly confident on that front. Give AVB his squad and I'm very excited to see what we would do.

Levy, Joe Lewis, please don't waste AVB's reign. He is the real deal, just imagine if he had got the players he wanted in the summer. Next transfer window, please no fucking around with last minute bids for important players.
BACK THE MAN!!!

AVB has done a great job, I just hope he doesn't get frustrated with Levys lack of support.
I see no signs that Levy will change and that any new investment will be available - book balancing is admirable and in many ways
essential but if we are to go beyond where we are now its net new investment that's needed

Only mention of Fraud wrt AVB was from a JJ post I thought. I can't remember any article like that coming out. Just about the closest thing I can recall along those lines was the players revolting over his training methods or whatever.

There is a great outpouring of optimism over reality. Never thought I'd see that from Spurs fans to be honest.

So basically we should have stuck with Redknapp because he was and will be the best thing to ever happen to us. Last time I checked Spurs existed way before dear old 'Arry was even born and we will exist long after he's gone. I don't even know how some journos are employed. All be cleaning toilets at McDonalds if I had any say in it.
