My only problem with the incident was that Ekotto made himself look like a nasty little fucker in front of the Ref and this image stayed in the Ref's head.
For me it was never a penalty but because he had given the Referee such a negative impression earlier,he punished him for it!

I don't buy this "shows he cares" argument.
BAE lost it big time and almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
His cross for Niko doesn't make up for this but goes someway to making up for the stupid penalty he gave away.
If we have big games coming up we'll have to ask if we can depend on him.
Think about how many times he has been there for our cause this season then get off your soap box.

Even Harry has defended him and said it was nothing big, and having seen the replays does not blame him for the penalty either,

I commented immediatly prior to the incident that being 1 up and a man up and generally running the game probably meant implosion was imminent, it is the spurs way after all. Having the players turn on each other though is a new one for me.

There must be a certain amount of bad blood between em for Bennys reaction to be that extreme though. With all the adrenaline in the world your not gonna react that strongly to some1 saying you shouldve passed it or why are you that far forward!
My 1st instinct is to blame benny for overreacting but i confess to never having taken to the guy so I may be biased!
Its somehing worth paying attention to though. Weve got enough trouble with injuries without benny and charlie falling out and potential upsetting our entire croatian contingent!

Couldn't care less. We all know BAE is a bit naughty sometimes, he kicked someone in the head in France, didn't he? Harry obviously doesn't think he's a problem and that's good enough for me. I've got no problems with someone with a bit of an attitude, we need a mixture of characters in the team and watching him this season proves to me he's not a liability just because he's a bit hot headed.

Never a nailed on penalty by the way, like Trevor 'nasal fucknut' Francis believed.

stupid challenge, though. I forget who he took down, but he was never getting to the cross.

He tracked the defender which is exactly the right thing to do. Never a penalty

I'm glad I'm not only one who didn't think it was a 'nail on' penalty'.

If you watch the daily motion video on page two, you clearly see BAE walking back and saying sorry to Corluka. It was Charlie who carried on bitching at him, he's dumb to raise his hands, but Corluka is by no means innocent.

Don't see the big deal really, this stuff happens on training grounds all the time (Keane/Davids) (O Hara/Brown) (Dalmat/O Hara) for example, its part and parcel of an adreneline fuelled environment

true

for you older boys..

i witnessed at our training ground at chesthunt an almighty scrap between
steve perryman and neil mcnab.

i mean a proper brawl , no handbags

they were seperated, and the game between 1st and 2nd resumed.
but the next time they went near each other ,it kicked off big time again.

burkinshaw stopped training and they all went home.
it left a real bad taste as you can imagine.

suprise suprise ,mcnab was out the club soon afterwards, there was no transfer window back then.

i think its far worse when its in a match rather than training,
but yesterdays was handbags,though unneccesary!
but in the height of a game passions run high. shit happens!

Looking for company then I see! At least I backed my criticism of your post with reasons why I disagree with you, and you could do the same.

If this was a one-off between the two, I would consider it a non-issue. On the other hand, if there is a previous similar history between the two, Harry will have to deal with it or we risk loosing any hope -however slim they may be -of CL qualification/FA Cup glory.

One point I would like to make, from TV shots after the final whistle, I could see most players coming together to compliment each other, but BAE was not there. I cannot be sure of course, maybe someone who went for the game could shed more light on this for us.

Now is the time for unity more than ever before, not for personal fueds.

I agree with this assessment. Sky TV did have a shot of BAE walking after the match but I could not tell if it was toward the other players or towards the tunnel.

Based on Harry's response when asked, it seemed as if it was a one off, so lets hope so.

Great post.

Corluka and Ekotto are possibly the two coolest, most laid back footballers at our club. In my mind those two, along with Luka Modric, are the hair bear bunch.

At the end of the day we won the match, we played well, and all this stuff about the incident affecting our play is a load of balls. I'm watch the extended highlights as I type this and immediately after the incident we had three very good attacks in a row.

So there was a shove. Big deal. It happens. It was broken up very quickly, nobody was sent off, lets move on. These guys hearts are going a mile a minute when they're playing, the adrenaline pumping through their veins, the testosterone levels rising to mind controlling levels. Players losing their coll is natural and I think it is a credit to us that when it does happen, we all seem shocked, because that shows how rarely it does happen at Spurs.

One thing I might add on the incidentis this. Usually when we have corners it is Palacios plus one on the half way line as last man. I wonder if BAE forgot this today and wandered forward. From the shot behind the goal Corluka is clearly one on one....that said he ought to have made it known loudly before the corner!

It wasnt a pen, he was running hot and maybe thats what fired him up to get forward and set up the goal?

We need a bit of nasty in our team.

Benny needs anger management

I'll fix him up for the Fulham game

:eek:mg: I'll fix that biatch up bad :eek:mg:

First time I've seen BAE show any emotion! He normally plays like he couldn't give a sh*t! :)

Oh, he certainly looked like he gave a sheeite coming off the pitch after the opening day victory against Liverpool.

He'd probably just tell them that if they didn't behave, their wives would be next on his hit list.

:eek:mg: You have to 'do something' to get yourself on the big Ucktermuckty compendium list of John Terry missus wish list :eek:mg: What was Wayne Bridge's misdemeanour then?

Song sung by Hull fans: "Chelsea, wherever you may be, don't leave your wife with John Terry"

Back on topic, think it was pretty much a storm in a tea-cup, myself (unless they have a fight behind the bike shed later, of course).

I've lost count of the amount of times I've yelled "pass the fuckin' ball!" when some greedy fucker from my Sunday/Wednesday team has just, well, not passed...
and i actively despise some of them and they know it. (and i know it's the same for them)

We don't know what's gone before, so we can only comment on what we saw, Chorlie could've been storing something up waiting to have a pop (postulating on something i didn't see ) but benny reacted like a dick.
My only qualm with what Chorlie did, was the fact that he seemed to want to let benny know what he felt, even if it meant two full backs meeting in the middle of the pitch from an incident that was about 50 yards away.
if it's a snap reaction to someone near you then it's more understandable.

still much ado about nothing me thinks...

Was a nothing incident in my opinion. 2 players disagreeing - so what?
All this booking and sort them out rubbish is way OTT.

As for the pen, was never a pen. watch it closely and you'll see benny jump for the ball and the striker back into him, ref was looking to give a pen after the red card imo. Huths push on bale a few mins earlier was more of a pen as he shoved bale in the back with 2 hands.
