I thought it was just a play on words with regards to the photo they used (BAE in the snow against Utd)

He's being eased back in after injury and will have to earn his place back.

Twisted his words, he's just being honest really. He should expect to be in LB ahead of a right footed right back

I saw this earlier which made me laugh, but didn't feel the need to start a new thread

People trying to create a story out of nothing. Controversy sells. It's not meant as a dig in any way.

Ehh a few ITKs have said that he was back from injury and training with the lads A LONG TIME AGO. People also implied that AVB and Benny didn't see eye to eye. This all was way before any of this when he was rumoured to be sold to Chelsea during this window

Under AVB every injured player has been eased back in once they get back to fitness.

Not a story.

But when has that stopped the journos?

I think its balls. He's not been rushed back, and Naughton has done pretty well for someone playing out of his preferred position.

We can't complain that Redknapp always played his favourites no matter what their condition and didn't use the squad enough, then blame AVB for not putting Benny (or Parker, or Lloris) straight in when they are available.

I'd hope its breeding a culture around the team that if you perform well, you are in. If you are on the outskirts, you need to impress to win back your place. As it should be.

what a retarded article. we are easing him back slowly and he gives us a balance that naughton cant. he can deliver the cross on his left without wasting time on a second touch, making it extremely important for our football to flow. he can also over lap, which benefit bale's game more and has a thunderous left foot. such lazy journalism.

Snow smoke without fire?

There's no fire, so there's no smoke.

A statement can be interpreted in many different ways but the only way that matters is what the guy making the comment thinks and means. All he has done is state facts.

Why should a left back be worried about a right back playing out of position who can't cross with his left foot and gets into trouble when he turns back infield?

If a specialist left back is worried by someone like that he has confidence issues and should not be at a top 4 club..

you're missing the point, its a convenient headline because it's making a reference to the weather. i agree there is no story but when has that ever stopped a journalist ?

It's pure journalistic opportunism.
The sub editor puts the catchiest headline on the reporter's story
whether they tie in or not. Here its the picture and bugger the actual story
Its called 'clickability' on Newsnow and the internet.
The headline which attracts the punters often has a spurious connection.
Trust me I know from blogging.

But don't blame the messenger loves it's your own fault.
Previously anything with Modric or Van Der Vaart in got hits.
Now its AVB or transfers or even Daniel Levy.
A fair and sensible headline rarely attracts people.

I once got a good hit tally with the headline
'Hardly anything about Modric today'
when Modricmania was at its height.

So 'Lloris angry in training ground bust up with manager' would be a winner.
'Lloris and AVB discuss goalkeeper situation' would not.
Even if the second is an accurate summary.

Books/ covers anyone.
