"He leaves us now to spend time outside of club football."

Let the pimp-fest commence.

I don't think he'll be going to join the Conte regime (their time at Juive didn't overlap), so I expect him and Capello have a new venture lined up with an international side

With Baldini gone, we need a new closer. As we can see from the berahino spat that levy tries too hard to screw the last penny out of a deal. The season before, we signed pretty much everyone we were after as baldini was handling negotiations, he had a budget and got them.

Cortese looks to be the ideal candidate but i'm not sure he would take a step backwards from Chairman to DoF, unless DoF had a lot more operation power while Levy was off digging the foundations for the new stadium trying to save a few quid.

Cortese was never chairman at Southampton. He was CEO with Liebherr as Chairman

Levy will focus on the stadium.

Cortese is from the same cloth as Levy and Poch. He's a firm advocate of 'sustainability' (i.e. living within your means).

He's also one of those 1% guys, like the British cycling lot. He's the one that makes the club transport the player's own bedding to hotels etc.

So long as Levy is still in ultimate control of Transfers, it won't make the slightest bit of difference...

I guess this was the last piece in the overhaul of the scouting and purchasing department?

I always thought he was a deal-closer so was sent to go and buy a specific player within a certain budget. He seemed to be an easy target for a lot of people to blame everything on. All the best you old smoothy.

Not sure we will bring anyone in to do the same role as a lot of what he was doing has now been accomplished. Academy and training facility is all completely revamped, as is the team for identifying and assessing potential playing staff. I wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do next. He certainly won't have any problems finding something else.

I don't think this is worth it's own thread so I will chuck this in here (reported in loads of places this morning).

"Tottenham are set to offer £345,000 for Brondby teenager Armend Aslani. The 17-year-old forward can play on either wing or as a central striker…"

I can't believe we didn't even get a final picture of the man whizzing off into the sunset in his little convertible Alfa Romeo, his magnificent Lovejoy mullet blowing in the breeze.
