If he only scored 2 goals then maybe your thread title would of made some sense.

On one hand, it's no good because Inter might take us more seriously on the trip back to WHL and the aforemention clubs coming in for him, but on the other hand that goal differential is crucial.

Agree, if we don't make top four this year, he'll give us one season of non-Champion's League football to see if we can get back. If we can't do it again, then I don't blame him.

Well it depends. He's too good for us if Real Madrid or Barca come calling. Italy is a no go because he wants to play in front of people (pathetic) and while I would see playing in Germany as a big thing, I doubt he does. So who else? City? We won't deal with them, I'd imagine. Chelsea have Cole. So that leaves United, who are probably going to follow Liverpool soon, so not too worried.

And to be fair, if Real or Barca come calling.....well how could we stand in the way of that.

Look lads if we have a whip round and all dig deep and chip in 20 notes we can sub his wages and give the middle finger to the big spending teams.

By telling every one to fuck off until he has only two yrs left on his contract and he intimates he won't re-sign.

The real way to keep hold of him is to buy a couple of VDV quality signings in the next couple of windows. And then another 2 in the next couple after that. If we can start pushing legitimately for honours not named the Carling Cup then it'll make it slightly easier.

Or we can falter over the next couple of yrs and Bale, VDV and Modric will promptly fuck off.

Crucial couple of yrs for the club this. One wrong move, even one made in good faith, could see it go all tits up and put us back another 3 or 5 yrs.

As a club we are progressing, we are a striker away from challenging from the title and he has four years left on his contract. Also we are playing in the competition that we all wanted to be in, so why are a lot of people resigned to the fact that he is too good for us and will inevitably leave?

I don't subscribe to this mentality.

I think only Man City, Real Madrid and Barca could actually afford him, his price tag is gonna be over £60 million at this rate. If Real came calling we could try a swap deal with cash with Benzema and another coming our way plus cash for Bale.

In all seriousness though I think we will really struggle to keep him, Man U couldn't keep hold of Ronaldo and now Rooney wants out and dare I say it, Man U are still bigger than Spurs at present.
