yep stats tell quite alot, i'll take the 10 assists (likely much more) over the 3 he achieved last year, as well as the better ability to score goals

he got us a pen in the last game, a pen against arsenal, scored against city, his performance seem fine to me. And if other teams have to dive in on him to stop him, and they end up getting red cards or giving up pens then thats there problem, not ours

haters gonna hate though

What haters

People questioning his performances makes them haters all of a sudden does it?

Stats in football discussions really are the last refuge of those who can't be bothered to construct a decent argument. They only tell part of the story - and don't say "yeah, the part that matters" because that's not true either.

There have been games where he's looked disinterested, games where he's looked lazy, and games where he's looked and behaved a little too cocky. Way more so than last season.

I'm not saying he's playing badly, but so far this season it's been a case of wondering which Bale is going to turn up.

refering to key/talksport and others fans calling him a cheat

spurs fans would never hate one of their own:whistle:

Ah ok. Fair enough, though god knows why anyone would care less about their opinion.

Obviously some fans do hate their own players, but I can't imagine many genuinely dislike Bale. Personally I can't think of any current Spurs players I actively dislike...though Modric is on thin ice

And you don't think the 3 assists he achieved last year has anything to do with the fact that we had Peter Crouch up front most of the time and Defoe didn't even get his first league goal of the season until around March?

You don't think his 10 assists this year has anything to do with the impact of Adebayor and the team's improved proficiency in front of goal this year?

Winning a couple of penalties doesn't mean you've had a good performance in those games. How many games this season has Bale been man of the match, or in the running for man of the match? Rarely.

Contrast that to 2010 when he was frequently one of our best, most hard working performers.

But if you're prepared to judge a player solely on goals and assists while ignoring the actual game and performance itself, fine. Let's go re-sign Bent and Pavlyuchenko. Their goal tally's were pretty decent too.

But he's already scored more league goals and made more assists than any previous season and we've still eight games to go...... Only one midfielder has scored more league goals this year - Lampard, and he takes pens.
11 games.

He's excellent when we are in possession but out of possession most of the time he is a passenger.

The quotes - whether its the way they are written or the way he said it - did sounds like he was saying he is proud he has "got people sent off".

What he meant was he is proud that he gets kicked and keeps going at players and they get sent off because he keeps going at them and being brave and they foul him.

Bad wording by Bale and IMO deliberate journalism to encourage this.

He dives we know it and they know it.

I can see both sides of the argument

He shouldn't be doing it its cheating plain and simple but on the other hand everybody else does it so let him carry on as long as it benefits Tottenham Hotspur.

You don't get a trophy at the end of the season for being honest.

I know I am one of his chief critics, of his application and defensive discipline, but this has been his best season as a player by a long chalk. He is seeing more ball, has scored more goals and made more chances and assists than any other season by some distance I believe.

I completely understand what he is saying about getting frequently kicked and players diving have never bothered me more than players fouling. Both are cheating, just one won't ruin the career of another pro.

What I would like to see is retrospective punishment for all offences. Diving and foul play. If someone dives for a pen then retrospectively ban them. If someone commits a could that is missed or should have been red then ban them.

But I don't mean when they move because it looks like a tackle is coming in and the defender withdraws the leg. I mean the ones where they "hang out" a leg or just go down clearly looking despite no challenge. It would need good guidelines and application but no more than in game decisions do.

It'll soon make everyone think twice.

This.

I'm sorry, but how on earth to expect athletes who are at the very top of their game not be competitive to the point of doing everything they possibly can to win a game???

It's the refs/ref system that's the problem, the players are just doing what there paid to do, doing everything within there power to win football matches.

I've only actually just seen a replay of our penalty from Wednesday - there was more significant contact on Bale than there was from Nelsen on the Stevange guy, so I don't know why this is really an issue. Other than Poor Little Minnow Complains About Big Bad Tottenham Beating Them.

There was enough contact to take him down at Le Filth - not a dive. Yeah, he dived at Anfield, but then he had Thug Skrtel tearing at him - the prick that left a huge gash in his shin, so I don't really blame him for wanting to get out of the way, especially when you consider what Thug Adam did to him last season.

Compare with that to the amount of times Steven Gerrard dives/has dived, it's not really an issue. At all.

If only Gaaareth weren't so blyddi foreign. Were he the England LW, this wouldn't get a mention. Gerrard dived in a CL final FFS and the meeja scum still can't wait to spread their cheeks for him.

Does he go down a little easily, yes for me he does at times. Is he an out and out diver. No, not for me. Certainly doesn't deserve to be the poster-boy for this campaign.

I don't like footballers going to down easily but it's the modern game and he is not alone. I wish the game was different as I actually dislike it intensly in most areas and only Tottenham still keeps me associated with the game but meh.

People who slag off bale would probably want a clogger like Milner in the team. he may go down easily but he is not a PIRES level diver.

Not that I want Bale to leave, I hope he stays here for many successful yrs but were he to bugger off, I'd hope Citeh would have grown tired of Johnson by that time and replace him with some £60m El Salvadoran wunderkind. He'd fill the spot in the team nicely.

It's not the going over easily that's the issue, it's the rolling around screaming in pain aftermath that makes him look bad.

It's that easy to get booked these days theres no need for the dramatics.

difference being nelsen made contact with the stevenage player, bale made contact with the stevenage defender.

Milner is a very good player and as good as Bale imo

Omar is the worst post you've ever made, it just dwarfs the humour evoked throughout most of your other posts.... unless this was a joke as well... oh shit he's done it again!
