Bale getting a real slagging from Richard Keys and Peter Reid this morning due to quotes from Bale in an interview. They're saying that Bale is admitting he's dived this year and proud that he's got people sent off. They're saying they are extraordinary quotes. But here is what Bale actually said about people getting sent off.....

“In a way they think that’s the only way they can stop you. They hit you, you get up and the best players get on with it and go at them again - until you’re actually really hurt!
“You get used to it, take it as a compliment and keep going at him. You think: “You can’t stop me and the only way you can is to foul me.” I’ve got a few people sent off by doing that this year.”

Talksport have blatantly taken the comments out of context - not good Talksport! A few million people have been listening, now with a wrong opinion of Bale.

When will people learn? Talksport makes money from phone calls so they p*ss listeners off in order to get as many as possible of them to ring up.

I wouldn't even give what that d*ck Keys the time of day anyway.

It's defamation of character surely. Bale should certainly, at the very least, issue a statement clarifying what he actually said and demand an apology.

They've twisted his words and shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

I only had to see Keys' name there and that was enough.

Serves them right for listening to such a gash radio station.

Bale has been fantastic this season

At diving?

I think he's been disappointing this season. I could count the number of fantastic performances he's put in for us this season on one hand.

A lot of that is due to the opposition working extra hard to cancel him out, but it's also down to his unsuccessful new role as a meandering headless chicken, as well as his general lack of effort at times.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bale and when he's playing well he's unstoppable, but most of his performances this season have been a let down.

But he's already scored more league goals and made more assists than any previous season and we've still eight games to go...... Only one midfielder has scored more league goals this year - Lampard, and he takes pens.

This is the article from yesterday's Standard that seems to have started this one

http://www.thisislon...le-7545381.html

Gareth Bale today hit back at accusations that he dives by claiming he is just trying to protect himself from serious injury.

The Tottenham winger has been criticised this season for “going to ground” too easily and Stevenage manager Gary Smith was unhappy that Bale was granted a penalty when challenged by Mark Roberts last night.

Doubts were also expressed about the spot-kick awarded to Bale during the north London derby last month, yet the Welshman insists he has no option but to take evasive action from aggressive tackles.

“I try not to get in the way of tackles and if people want to say I’m diving then they can but I’m trying to get out of the way and save myself, save my career if you like,” he said. “You’ve got people flying in at you.

“If you stand there, you’re going to get a whack. Sometimes it looks like you’re diving but if someone’s coming across you, you try to get out of the way. You can see why people say you’re diving but I’d rather dive — meaning get out of the way — than get hurt. I tend not to dive.”

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp defended his player recently but also suggested that Bale would need to accept that rough treatment will increase as his reputation grows.

Redknapp used the examples of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, probably the two most tightly-marked players in the game, to show Bale what he can expect as his career develops.

He believes Bale should regard it is a compliment if teams seek to stop him by illegal means and the 22-year-old admitted he takes a degree of confidence from the way he is marked.

Bale added: “People want to take you down and get you out of the game and I suppose you can take it as a compliment. It’s not nice but I think it’s to be expected now. In a way they think that’s the only way they can stop you.

“They hit you, you get up and the best players get on with it and go at them again. If they get knocked down, just get back up again — until you’re actually really hurt. You get used to it and you keep going at your marker. You think, ‘You can’t stop me and the only way you can is to foul me’. I’ve got a few people sent off by doing that this year. You get up and get on with it.”

Spurs’s victory in last night’s fifth-round replay at White Hart Lane set up a quarter-final tie at home to Bolton on March 17, although the result came at a considerable cost. Michael Dawson is unlikely to play again this season after suffering suspected knee and ankle ligament damage early in the game. The centre-back went to hospital last night and Redknapp confirmed it was a severe injury that would probably keep him out for the remainder of the campaign. Dawson has had X-rays and was scheduled to undergo further assessment from specialists at lunchtime today.

Aaron Lennon was also forced off in the first half with yet more hamstring trouble and Stevenage’s physical approach meant Spurs had to expend plenty of energy to overcome them — hardly ideal as they prepare for a sequence of four games in 15 days.

The players who featured last night were due at Spurs Lodge this morning for a warm down and they will travel north tomorrow for Saturday’s League match at Everton. Bale had been struggling with a tight hamstring sustained while training with Wales and then he missed the 3-1 home defeat by Manchester United last Sunday due to illness.

He added: “It was good to get some running into my legs and hopefully I can kick on now.”

Two goals from Jermain Defoe, either side of a penalty from substitute Emmanuel Adebayor, helped Spurs turn around the game after Joel Byrom’s fourth-minute spot-kick had given the League One club a surprise lead.

But Spurs’s relief was tempered by the injury to Dawson. Scott Parker said: “It is a massive shame if the injury is what they suspect.”

It's alright, it's only Keys & Gray, no-one actually cares what they say

The only reason i have it on is because ocassionally they have pretty good guests on, and there's bugger all else to listen to this time of day.

In fact, the only thing that makes me laugh from 10am - 1pm is the soundbite with the fella who calls in asking about the Moose and where he lives, "too much information, boys!"

Keys was slabbering all summer on TS that LM would be a Chelski player before the TW closed, DL would cave in etc a la Berbatov. That was the end of his credibility with me. Tosspot.

I don't meant to sound like I'm knocking him, and I appreciate his goal scoring this season. I just don't think his all round play has been as good as the previous two seasons.

Richard Key's is always trying to make much more of every issue. How can he of all people slate anyone for their behaviour at work is beyond me.

I agree. He need work on his decision making of when to shoot from stupid wide angles and when to look up and cut it back.

How much do you think they make from the calls? Bearing in mind calls cost 10p a minute and there are 1440 minutes in a day. So assuming they have five people on the line all day (they wont) they would earn £720 a day.

That should be enough to pay him and Grays weeks wages.:razz:

Against Liverpool he went down and got into trouble when Agger kicked out at him, Agger missed because Gareth Bale shifted sideways to avoid the kick.
Agger then got all moral high ground accusing Bale of diving but had he not Agger would have kicked him, nobody complains about him taking Bale out at the knee because he was too fecking slow and missed but the violent intent was still there; does Bale have to let them crock him just so he can say "I told you so" when people like that end his career.
I do think you should all have a little sympathy for keys and grey, they used to be somebodies!:)

Ridiculous geez, sorry. How many times last year did you moan when we drew at home to shit teams, because him and Lennon were stuck on the touchlines and couldn't get in the game?

Only critisism is over elaborate when he is not on song. Needs to be more efficient, hit the target instead of trying to break the net. Touch and pass, rather than a flick round the corner. etc.

Me personally? None as far as I can remember.

It's not as if I'm saying he's been shit, but this season he's put in a lot of average performances. I don't expect Inter-esque performances every game, but in general I don't think he's played as well as he can do.
