For nearly a decade Gary Barry was moved between LB, LM and CB, before finally settling and excelling in CM.

I can see it working later in Bale's career - 6 or 7 years down the line maybe.

Spot on, and physically Bale is much better than Barry

But Stevie G was very fragile and played out wide early on, I wouldnt say to play him there yet. But wouldnt want us to miss a trick having a player so technically good wasted out wide.

Surely all the best players that make a difference play through the middle!

Chris Waddle would beg to differ.

In fact, I would like to see Bale with a Waddle mullet. That would make him one of the true greats.

Why can't people just accept he is an excellent left back. Did anyone see Dani Alves display from RB against Stuttgart the other night? he is a much better full back than Bale(at present) why don't Barce play him at RW? Because simply he is most effective running from deep. I swear people on this forum lose their heads through sheer excitement of having a good player that you wanna talk him up as being some kind of superman!!

I was merely looking at the fact that some other players ie, Gerrard, Barry, Milner and Fletcher have all started wide and moved in-field to become arguably the best player for their respected clubs in that position.

I agree that already Bale is an Extremely good left back and equally superb Left sided midfield player. But I also beleive that he could become a truely world class box-to-box midfield player!

Spurs have a potentially world class full-back (and he IS a full-back).

 I know, let's try and make him into a winger; and in case that doesn't work, perhaps we could shoe-horn him into central midfield.

What is it with you people? Do you just think full-back isn't a 'proper' position, or summit:shrug:
